  • Cassell to Chiefs?

hmmm, don't have a legit link from a legit news source, but there are a few messageboard murmurs, that Cassell may follow Pioli to the Chiefs.

If the Pats franchise him, the Chiefs have the right to match the offer, but will be required to give up a #1 and a #2 draft pick to compensate the patriots.

The Chiefs need a QB, and rather than draft and develop a QB, they may make a play for Cassell.

This gives them a legit QB, who can still be developed, but already has displayed he has the necessary skills to be the starter.

Now only question is will he fit their system? They're currently geared to use the spread offense which was built around Tyler Thigpen's strengths in the middle of the year where the Chiefs found success with their offense. or will they revert back to a Patriots style offense?

If the Chiefs give up a #1 and #2, the Patriots would have the 3rd overall pick in the draft, and could take Taylor Mays to replace an aging Rodney Harrison, and a pressing need.

Well first off al, Taylor Mays won't be picked as he is staying school. Apparently, thats what's being said anyway.

I think it is a possibility, as I don't think Thigpen is the franchise QB the Chiefs are looking for.. I am not sure if New England would franchise Cassell though. If they can't trade him they will have to pay him A LOT of money for warming the bench (If Brady's injury is fully healed ofcourse)

and yeah I just saw that Mays isnt entering the draft, but the pats could still take another safety or needed player with that pick.

it would not be fun to face him twice a year, that's for sure.

i really hope this doesn't happen.

I think it would be a blast if they Franchise him and it back -fired and no one took him.

Not sure how the Pats could keep the young guy down, unless Brady is not healing properly. But if he is, there is no way they can keep these 2 excellent QBs in the fold. So, I would expect a real serious negotiation to take place to move Cassell this year....again, unless Tom is not Tom.

It appears that Brady is flexible enough to get down on one knee, so if nothing else, he can be used to take a knee at the end of the games they are winning...

that would be a nice qb for the Chiefs even tho i like tyler thigpen as a quarterback this past season he showed great talent and came close to winning atleast 4 or 5 games but the def let him down the chiefs were really competative they only won 2 games but they were no joke i like thigpen

Actually it is 2 #1s to to sign a tagged player. I really doubt anyone is going to give up that much to get Cassel. The more likely possibility would be the Patriots tag and then trade him.

                      Extremely unlikely.

The question is what will the Patriots get for him. Anything more than a 7th round pick is pure profit.

                        Brady

This article was saying he was behind & he was due for another surgury. At the bottom, it says the infection cleared & he was moving right along.

As for Matt Cassell, IMO he is a product of the system. Not to say Brady exactly wasn't, but I don't see Cassell going on to another team & being successful. :salute!:

never going to happen....the pats aren't letting cassel just go before knowing how brady is

they don't give a crap about the draft picks...in fact, belichick hates high draft picks

the pats are a team built to win NOW...draft picks and a hurt brady does them zero good

also, what is wrong with thigpen? the guy is 24 and in his first full year on an atrocious team threw 18 tds and only 12 ints

the chiefs would be absolute morons to give up on the guy before giving him a legit chance...and god knows they can put those draft choices to good use

They loaded UP lasy year so I think this year would be a good shot. KC has a lot of guys young and old and Cassell would be an improvement. They should trade like Thigpen and a 2nd rd for Cassell so NE has a backup, will it happen, probably not..

well 1st off we have no idea how he would do without moss an welker. an last time i checked they didnt have a go 2 guy. they would b stupid 2 trade a 1st ans a 2nd pick 4 him when they can get a qb in free agentcy. that is way 2 much 2 give 4 a qb that has only had 1 good year.
