Not if the cop had stopped them and they were no where near a hospital and Moats said the same thing, it may be different. But his family exited the vehicle and ran straight into the hospital, not anywhere else. The first thing they said was "Our mother is dying, she's dying right now", they didn't just get out, try to run inside and than let him know, that's the first thing they did was alert him of the situation. I'm glad that at least a few of the members of Moats' family were able to spend time with their mother in her final moments.
I would tend to agree with you, but the fact is that the officer tried pulling them over before they got to the hospital parking lot, and Moats refused to pull over. The officer had no way of knowing that they hadn't concocted that story to try to get out of a ticket.

But he COULD have walked Moats inside to verify. Like I said, a lot of the officers comments and actions during the stop were unprofessional, but in the end, if Moats had just waited the extra 30 seconds at the stop light, they would have all been at bedside.

But you have to figure, his mother in law was dieing. Sure, he could have waited the 30 seconds at the light, but in all reality she was dying right than. Yes, running the light and the officer he was pulled over by cost him the opportunity to spend that time with his mother in law, but no one could have been sure how much time she actually had. He was trying to get their and spend all the time with her that he could, and honestly the officer is 99% to blame for the way he acted, it's not like Moats straight ran the light, he waited until he was clear and than pulled through the light. I feel sorry for the guy, and it's too bad the officer had something up his ass that night and didn't allow Moats the time to spend with his Mother in law.
