2009 Year in Review
Well, that sucked... the original thought process of this poll was to show how the Broncos weren't getting the proper respect after their first 4 games... but in the end... it shows the Broncos were RIGHT DAB IN THE MIDDLE... ranked #16!
If this were college football, Indianapolis would be facing off against the Chargers in the Championship game.
The Steelers are #11... the highest rated team not playing.
The Cardinals are #20... the lowest rated team playing.
See you in the fall!

Week 16 notes
Sadly, The Champs Chumps Power Poll is not a tie-breaker for playoff scenarios.
The Broncos free-fall continues... now they are at #9.
The Chargers become on the 4th team all year to crack the top 2... The Colts, Saints, Chargers and yep, The Broncos.
Congrats to Missouri, you have 2 of the 3 worst teams in the NFL!

There is no link, it's a formula I put together. I could link the espn.com powerrankings, but that is just part of the equation.
Thanks

*Week 15 Notes
*** The Broncos fall to 8th... which is kind after losing to the frickin' Raiders.
*** The Chargers take over 3rd place.
*** If the season ended today.. the top 6 teams in the AFC would be in the playoffs... in the NFC, the Giants are ranked higher then the Packers, but GB would be in.
Thanks for all the positive feedback this year.

Week 13 Notes
**Indy remains #1 for the 4th straight week.
**San Diego jumps over Denver, mainly due to the fall in the polls of the Patriots and Ravens, which hurt Denver.
*** The difference between this poll and the actual playoff scenario if it started today.... The Packers and Jags are out and the Ravens and Giants are in. In fact the Jags are only #18... their best win this year is against Tennessee.
*** With an upset win, Denver would easily jump San Diego and probably Minnesota too. A loss won't be too damaging.

Week 12 notes
A win puts Denver back in 4th... the Chargers don't pick up much by beating the Chiefs.... hopefully next week I'll be saying... The Broncos didn't pick up much by beating the Chiefs.
***Why is Denver so high? According to the ESPN power poll, they have beaten the #4, #5, #6 and #7 best teams in the league this year. Denver could slip a couple spots in this poll even if they win out... 3 games against KC/Oak doesn't provide a lot of positive gains.
*** The Saints closed the gap on Indy in the battle of un-beatens.
*** The may interest only me, but when teams split (see SD/Den) if affects the 2 teams differently. Denver picked up 25 points by splitting with SD (+29 for the win -4 for the loss) SD picked up 13 points in the split (+23 for the win, -10 for the loss). However, a split with KC would be a net loss of 21 points for the Broncos. So you are rewarded for splitting with a good team, penalized for splitting with a bad team.

This poll obviously doesn't take into fact momentum.
