  • Bucs ship DE Adams to Chicago for 2nd rounder

    http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/10/16/bear...om-buccaneers/

The Chicago Bears have acquired DE Gaines Adams from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a 2010 second-round pick, according to a league source.

Adams, a former first-round draft pick in 2007, has started all five games for the Bucs this season, posting 10 tackles and one sack. He has played in 37 career games, with 29 starts, registering 13.5 career sacks.

Adams was the fourth overall player chosen in the 2007 NFL Draft.

I am a little surprised, because this guy seemed like a can`t miss when he entered the pros. Is Tampa self-imploding or is this a simple case of one guy just not fitting.......

Him... Kind of a weird move, but Alex Smith and Adewale Ogunleye are aging so I can see why.

At least they sent the message, If you don't produce you get traded.

And hell, they good a good deal. I would of guessed at most a 3rd. But a 2nd, nice.

looks like a solid deal for the bears...the bucs are probably reloading knowing this season is shot

lol Bucs fans would disagree. Most seem to think he was a huge bust and getting a 2nd rounder is down right raping the bears. It looks like Mr. Adams is averaging about 6 sacks a year. And is on pace for a 3 sack season this year. 2nd rounder? LOL if the Bears don't make it to the playoffs this year their fans are going to be asking for Jerry Angelo's head.

I think it's a stupid move by the Bucs, just like it was stupid to let Gruden go. It's not like Adams was becoming a bust, he is a productive young DE. 12.5 sacks, 2 interceptions, 8 deflections in 2 seasons. Not bad. We would be pretty happy if Ayers had such stats after 2 seasons. Unless Adams was causing problems to the organization, I can't how the Bucs win. What will they do with the 2nd round pick? Draft another QB?

he's off to a slow start this season but averaging just over 6 sacks for each of his first two years is far from a bust...he also had two interceptions last season

A former 1rst round pick for a 2nd round pick next year, i guess the Bears draft will begin on the 2nd day of the draft.

So click to see Gaines Adams first Int for a Touchdown last year http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2i-e9-NK6I

                    That QB sure looks familiar

                      You're such an opportunist......

Adams will probably do well in Chicago.

The part about Chicago starting their draft on the second day is kind of funny. I didn't think about that until you mentioned it.

Yeah did you hear the "Boo Birds" in the backgroud, they clearly did not appreciate Adams 1rst Int for a Touchdown.

Now i wonder who the Bears will cut to make room for Adams?

Dumb move by Chicago. Now their first pick in the 2010 draft is a 3rd rounder. So stupid. They're defense is rapidly passing the line from "mediocre" to "old and bad", and with Forte slumping HARD and Cutler still not having any WR's to throw to, that team is in shambles. They better hope Johnny Knox turns into the greatest WR ever, cause if he don't Chicago won't see the playoffs for at least 3 or 4 years.

lol. do the bears just not like drafting or what? i kinda feel sorry for bears fans now seeing as the draft is pretty much the only thing that keeps me alive through offseason
