I can't stand Rivers, & his big mouth, but IMO the guy is good, & one of their best players, if not the best ,(don't kill me).

I actually thought he played well against the Broncos tonight.
From watching that game, that Chargers o-line sucks, as does the D.
Scratch that, the Broncos are just better.
You can't be more right friend. Benching Rivers would not be smart. He isn't the problem in San Diego. But by the sounds of it I guess they are missing Brees by now. They let him go and now he is tearing up the league. I understand some of the frustration thats going on there although I'm glad I'm not enduring it. They'll be dangerous once he gets a good line.

I take it you haven't been watching football the last 2 seasons? Where you there last year when Rivers was statistically the best QB in every category other than yardage? (Brees) Do you know that he had more Touchdowns, Less Interceptions on less throws than Favre and Manning?

Ranking players determines on your current play, nobody is counting how many Super Bowls you won or what you did such and such year... it's about how your playing right now.

The best QB's right now are based on how well they're playing and leading there teams to wins:

    1. Brees
    2. P. Manning
    3. Orton
    4. Favre
    5. Roethlisburger

Just had to register and post on this thread.

Don't know why still to this day other fans think Philip Rivers is some "a$$" or "crybaby"... I guess one it comes from that sunday night game where he was seen mouthing off to Cutler who was the one holding his crouch and cussing at Rivers.

Even if I wasn't a Chargers fan, would still respect Rivers, he's not some Pacman Jones or some clown like that... as for his talk on the field... so what? When Tom Brady and Rey Lewis do it, nobody seems to care... but when Rivers does it for some reason a grown man talking smack to other grown men in a grown mens sport is something to be grilled over.

Either way, at least he's getting the respect he deserves by other fans, glad to hear even Broncos fans appreciating his play.

And oh yeah, that's probably 1% of the Charger fans who think Rivers is somehow part of the problem... they don't speak for everyone.

If the Chargers continue to slide this year, which I'm not convinced they will due to their tendency to come on strong in the last half of the last few seasons and the fact that they have alot of talent, and they fire Turner. Wouldn't be it something if Good 'Ole Mike Shannahan showed up to fill that spot. Yeah, he and Bowlen are friends unlike he and Weird Al, but still business is business and if he gets a chance to rub mud in Bowlen's eye, he may go for it.

LT trying to block DJ Williams. Chargers' OC needs a different plan.

Phillip Rivers is a great football player and one hell of a competitor.

On Monday Night his problem was an ineffective running game and Denver's D.

Maybe firing Schottenheimer wasn't the best idea.

Actually, no I don't think he's the problem. The problem is our futility on the line of scrimmage, and thats not his fault.

Oher wouldn't have done anything for us. We're fine at the tackle spot, its OG and C that were terrible at.

At least they have been constantly in the playoffs and even reached the AFC title game. Look at the Cowboys for example, a team with huge expectations that failed to even win 1 single playoff game. I think Norv is a good offensive mind, his team has a great offense that scored a lot of points. Special teams are also very good there, they just slipped against us Monday. The problem is there is their defense, it was great two years ago but they can't rush the passer anymore. I don't see how they would improve just by getting rid of Norv Turner. It's easier to focus on simply fixing the defense. A new coach could hurt the offensive rhythm and could still fail to improve that defense. Norv is not in total control there like Shanahan was in Denver, they have a GM that used to be pretty good and he needs to make better decisions with personnel.

Jaws was all over Rivers' man-stick in the beginning of the game, saying how good he was. After we sacked him five times and he fumbled two or three times, Jaws shut up real quick. It was great.

I don't like Rivers. He has a big mouth on him, but there's no denying his qualities.

Sproles is a good weapon, but it doesn't seem they are getting their running game going much this year. I love this win more than any other this year, but they always turn their game around towards the middle of the season. His O-line did very little to help him today. Good for us!

I don't ever take our division rivals lightly, no matter how poor they seem to be playing. Did you guys see what the Raiders did to Philly? When their D steps up, they are not that terrible and our rivals always seem to step up against us.

Now that we are leading the division, we should expect our rivals to play us even harder just as they always have.

I'm right there with you. I never take any of our division rivals for granted.
Rivals step up to rivals. Thats why its different than just any other game.
Raiders shocked me in that game. I thought I was in a nightmare.

Philip Rivers has a bad reputation because of his feistiness, but it's mostly a bad rap. He doesn't even curse, but once you get a rep for something either good or bad, it's pretty hard to shake. Rodney harrison used to draw flags for making aggressive but clean hits, because he had the reputation as a cheap shotting head-hunter.

I'm beginning to agree that we may need a new coach, Norv is way to passive most of the time, and the team seems to have taken on that unfortunate personality trait. He's also a wimp at playcalling once we get close to the goal line. I don't discount his 3 playoff wins in 2 seasons with us, but that history won't do us any good if we can't even make the playoffs, and our slow starts are just killing us year after year.

Ron Rivera isn't impressing me either, he's got the reputation as some kind of defensive mastermind but I'm just not seeing it!
Well, in all fairness you guys are missing a NT, and are hurting for depth at LB.

Additionally, your D really only gave up 20 points. 20 points is not a bad outing for your D. When you remove the special teams scores it was a 4 point win for Denver.

    It was a good game.
