Chargers fans doubting Rivers?

Some Chargers fans are starting to doubt Rivers. (I was at Qualcomm), & from what was posted in another thread, I guess someone on the Chargers board suggested to bench Rivers. Which would be the stupidest move they could make. Though, I'm sure us rivals wouldn't complain

I can't stand Rivers, & his big mouth, but IMO the guy is good, & one of their best players, if not the best ,(don't kill me).

I actually thought he played well against the Broncos tonight.
From watching that game, that Chargers o-line sucks, as does the D.
Scratch that, the Broncos are just better.

in a group of people, there's always going to be a precentage of them that are...dumb. rivers got screwed out of the pro bowl last season and has done well so far this year. it's pretty clear that the o-line, lack of running game, and playcalling are their problems on offense.

im still not a fan of the guy but anyone who utters that benching rivers would help the chargers should stop watching football and just go sit in the corner

I can't stand the guy. But he is easily the best player on that team. At this point, maybe the only one keeping their team afloat. Sproles is a good weapon, but it doesn't seem they are getting their running game going much this year. I love this win more than any other this year, but they always turn their game around towards the middle of the season. His O-line did very little to help him today. Good for us!

I don't ever take our division rivals lightly, no matter how poor they seem to be playing. Did you guys see what the Raiders did to Philly? When their D steps up, they are not that terrible and our rivals always seem to step up against us.

Now that we are leading the division, we should expect our rivals to play us even harder just as they always have.

I despise Rivers but he is a clutch QB and considering the lack of a running attack? yeah, go ahead and bench him San Diego... that should seal the AFC West for us even if we lose all of our nondivision games.

Business as usual... any team has some fans that start to question their best players after a few losses... just remember how some people freaked out on this board here after some lost games.
Anyhow - it's always funny to see some people blaming the wrong person. I don't like Phil Rivers but he is one good QB and right now the last person that I'd want to have benched if I was a SD-fan.
Fortunately I'm a Denver fan and I don't have to question my team. :go:

I agree with everyone else. Stupid thing to say. If you're gonna question someone, there are lots of guys to point at: LDT, Merriman, or how about Norv? Rivers is not even a part of the problem.

How many claims have we had that Broncos would be better with Cutler as QB? Cutler only once in Denver had a three game winning streak, and that was helped by the faulty call in the Charger game that we won. Kyle Orton has a six game winning streak - something that only Orton and Elway has been able to do in a Broncos uniform (miht be inaccurate if including the Pre-Elway years. Even Plummer had his longest winning streak at five.

We are just plain fortunate that we had a change at head coach. What a difference it has made.

That is the nature of the QB position in the NFL. When the team wins, he gets too much credit. When the team looses, he gets too much blame. That IMO is true of both QBs last night.
