30 million for a middle of the pack QB?

Someone call the cops, because Bus Cook just robbed the Bears.

Do you think the Broncos believe Orton is worth this kind of money?

I see Orton getting resigned to something a lot more reasonable than that. You have to be smart with the cash.:go:

No... the Broncos didn't think that they could keep Cutler happy. Had he kept his mouth shut they would've paid him much more.

The Bears see how he's playing right now, and want to get him on the 'cheap' because he'll get better. Why do I say cheap? It's only a two year commitment, meaning it's also going to be a much, much lower guaranteed amount. I mean, what a steal! Now they can see how he pans out before they give him one of these 100 million dollar deals with some crazy amount of guaranteed money. This contract isn't about what he is getting, but about what he's not. I'm actually pretty surprised.

20 million over two years guaranteed is not "cheap" for an overrated turnover machine.

Oh well, it's like I really care. At least the Broncos didn't do it.

I think that we both can agree that neither of us know the Bronco's value of Jay Cutler, i was just joking.
But, imo, I would definately not characterize that deal as a "steal". You have at it.

Yeah. At his current rate he will be making 1 mil for every pick he throws this year.

                    Thats value.

Heh. If he turns out to be a dud for the Bears, then obviously it was a dud of a deal. Then again, doing that deal makes it so that if he does dud then they can cut him lose without massive penalties (compared to what they could have been). At the same time, if he does perform well then they can easily give him that 100 million dollar deal.

Really, it's the flexibility that makes it a steal.
Odds are they'll end up paying him the same as if it were a blockbuster deal over the course of his career with them, anyway. Besides, don't forget come 2012-2013 the going price for a QB is going to be even higher, so by that time it may seem pretty average even for a middle-of-the-pack guy as one of you put it.

                        Moot point.

If Orton demands over the market money, he'll have to get it somewhere else. McDaniels has shown that he could be successful with three different QBs. And now since the Broncos are the Patriots West (something I really don't mind at all), there will be the mentality that individual parts won't be valued over the whole team.

How much does Orton make per miracle or great defensive play/st play?

Chicago must have a long sad history.
