I see Orton getting resigned to something a lot more reasonable than that. You have to be smart with the cash.:go:

The Bears see how he's playing right now, and want to get him on the 'cheap' because he'll get better. Why do I say cheap? It's only a two year commitment, meaning it's also going to be a much, much lower guaranteed amount. I mean, what a steal! Now they can see how he pans out before they give him one of these 100 million dollar deals with some crazy amount of guaranteed money. This contract isn't about what he is getting, but about what he's not. I'm actually pretty surprised.

Oh well, it's like I really care. At least the Broncos didn't do it.

But, imo, I would definately not characterize that deal as a "steal". You have at it.

Really, it's the flexibility that makes it a steal.
Odds are they'll end up paying him the same as if it were a blockbuster deal over the course of his career with them, anyway. Besides, don't forget come 2012-2013 the going price for a QB is going to be even higher, so by that time it may seem pretty average even for a middle-of-the-pack guy as one of you put it.

If Orton demands over the market money, he'll have to get it somewhere else. McDaniels has shown that he could be successful with three different QBs. And now since the Broncos are the Patriots West (something I really don't mind at all), there will be the mentality that individual parts won't be valued over the whole team.
