  • Why was Rivers not Ejected

Watching the SD/NYJ playoff game, Rivers through a pick, ran down the field arguing with the referee swinging his hands around and I saw his hands contact the referee two different times. HMMM

Also I believe the Chargers defense takes more cheap shots after the whistle than anything I have seen in a long time. Why are the refs not calling unnecessary roughness.

    I really hate the Chargers.

I think they only get ejected for intentional contact. I didn't pay attention to Rivers so I don't know if what he did was intentional or not but my guess is that the ref didn't consider it intentional contact.

Because, don't you know, Phillip Rivers has never once cussed in his life and he heals blind children with a touch of his hands.

Would have been great if Ed Hochuli was working the game and then tossed Rivers.

Intent should not be a factor, and I disagree that Stokley meant to touch the ref anyway.

At least they finally called the Chargers for one of those late pushes after the whistle. Looks like the Chargers are holding to their tradition with playoff collapses, ha ha ha.

I think intent should be a factor when deciding to eject someone. I didn't see the game where Stokely was ejected so I don't know if the ref misinterpreted the intent or not. Incidental contact with a ref that is the result of the player complaining to the ref should be a personal foul but not an ejection.

It was better to see them losing with Rivers on the field

It was way out of character ...

... for Brandon Stokley when he was ejected.

It makes me wonder if it had anything to do with the great number of non-calls on the coverage of Bronco receivers in '09.

I only watch the Broncos during the season. Towards the end (e.g., during winter break) I had a chance to watch other teams play. I saw a lot of flags in situations where I saw none during Broncos' games.

                          Just wondering.

                            no intentional contact doesnt matter.

rod smith was ejected in 2003 when he tried to punch a raider but missed and hit the ref instead.

you think rod smith would intentionaly punched a ref?

                              By the way, ...

... the manner in which the Jets beat the Chargers is exactly the style being developed in Denver right now (i.e., run the ball and play solid D). :thumb:

Too bad it won't do the Jets any good inside of a building in Indiana in January.

Then there was the way the ball bounced in SD today.

I've been involved in a few football games where the ball was bouncing for one team. It happens.
