Does Norv Turner get fired after going 13-3 and losing in the playoffs?

    Fair is fair, right?

No. Norv should stay SD coach for another 10-15 years!

shanahan was coaching denver for a million years. it was time for change.

bowlen is a patient man. if he wasnt then why didnt he fire shanahan after his first season??

shanahan went 8-8 his first year and got another season. same will go for josh mcdaniels.

as for norval turner. its to my knowledge that he and aj smith are boys? i dont see the chargers getting rid of him.

I was under the impression he just got his contract extended this season...or if he hadn't, he was about to.

I don't think he gets fired...and that's good news for us

I agree. I just think the thread made no sense. And Norv Turner is a good coach, the Chargers are reaching the playoffs and winning the division every year, the players just need to execute better in January.

It wasn't the 14-2 that got Marty fired, it was the 5-13 postseason record to include 0-2 with San Diego in about 5 seasons.

Norv Turner is 4-4 as a Head Coach in the postseason, and 3-3 in San Diego in 3 seasons which is impressive considering the injuries we've had the prior 2 years heading into the playoffs.

In Marty's final game with the Chargers, I vaguely recall some very questionable call he made in the loss that really got the firing squad pointing at him.

Am I dreaming or can someone provide the details?

Agreed. Also I think it is funny that any Broncos fan says that Norv being the coach of the Chargers is a great thing for us...last time I check Norv and the Chargers own us and the division. How does he being their coach help us any?

                      Peter King after yesterday's game:

The moment I liked most from the weekend happened Sunday night, in the bowels of Qualcomm Stadium, where Marty Schottenheimer had coached the Chargers for five seasons, and where he shockingly was fired after going 14-2 and losing an opening playoff game.

Marty's boy, Brian, the precocious offensive coordinator of the Jets, had just done his part Sunday orchestrating an offense with a rookie quarterback and a rookie running back into an upset of the Chargers that left the locals just as deflated as they were in 2006. And as a light rain fell on this crumbling place, Brian took out his cell phone, dialed his dad's number, heard him say, "Hello,'' and son said to father: "Dad, this one's for you.''
