  • State of San Diego...

It's kind of interesting to see how the Chargers are not making any moves and they are losing a lot of key players at a fast rate... (so glad I don't have to watch one of the most overrated running backs ever have to play anymore) Thank you AJ! And LT, the tears were a bit much.. come on! There is no crying in football! I believe the way they choked  I mean lost in the playoffs has finally took the wind out of their sail... So is 1st place in the West really that unreachable? :nono:

I am not happy with some of McD's decisions but if he keeps building the defense like he has done the past 2 off seasons, he may have a new fan! Now I just need him to start beating these annoying Chargers like Shanny used to beat up on the Raiders...

Move over Charger fans, and let a real Franchise show you how to add Championships along with those division titles!

However, in the gamble that is the NFL draft, we'll roll the dice on the proven and unmatched passing talent of Tebow rather than on the sorry track record of pro football talent evaluators.

Are they going to be a clone of the 2008 broncos? seems like they'll have No defense but a high powered offense

Yeah, I visited their board to see what was going on. Responses ranged from: Anger about JW leaving, Denial that J-Dubs was Done, Theory that AJ is having a Fire Sale before the team moves, Chargers are still the best team in the AFC, etc.

Fact is, San Diego had their chance the last few years to get it done and have not. They are likely in a slight decline and are not the team they were 2-3 years ago.
A super bowl victory is the only thing that matters in a season. So to show improvement you have to get closer than we were last year. So the AFCC game is a good answer if we only match what we did last year it is a failure. The Giants were 9-7 and won it all so record or first round bye mean nothing unless you win it all-

#87Birdman wrote it- adding Manning, the Broncos should be held to it, and certain posters think otherwise and we know who you are.....

I have never had such a dislike for a qb than i have with Rivers.I hate the guy but have to admit they will always have a shot with him.

I'm surpised that AJ's methodology this offseason is shocking you. The Chargers rarely make any moves in FA. Last year, they did pick up Kevin Burnett from Dallas....but, they didn't have any moves in 2008 or 2007.

In regards to losing "key players".....I'm not sure who you're referencing? Willimas was on IR all season. Osgood was a ST player. LT wasn't contributing at the level of a feature back.

I guess Cromartie had a decent season. His loss will have the most immediate impact. But, it's time for Antoine Cason to start anyway.

I'm sure this season Denver's new D will do it twice.

                      Amen.
SD has only 1 super bowl appearance(they got smashed), but yet there fans think there way past better than the Broncos who have 2 rings with 3 appearances, plus 7-8 division titles.

Our team is "way past better" than your Bronco team. What your "franchise" has done historically has no impact on this year's "team". If that were the case, then Oakland would be better than both San Diego and Denver (combined).

BTW....your Broncos have had SIX SB appearances, not just THREE. :salute!:

it is 6 appearances...not sure where 3 came from?

Which is five more than SD. Thanx for catching me on my own teams SB appearances.

Also SD is not better, This year y'all will have no D only a pass offense. Darren can't carry y'all on his own. When Denver chokes its during the season but when SD chokes its where it counts,in the playoffs. Denver does better in the post season than Chargers. Oh in about Oakland there good years where with Madden now its different, Oakland is not the "end your career here"team. The got beat by a not so good Tampa Bay team in 2002, since then the have how many AFC championship appearances? Oakland is also a bubble team like the Lions and Rams for worst NFL team.

Lots of hand-wringing over very little real attrition. The team went 13-3 last season without Jamal Williams. Sure, they need a NT, but J-Wall is just about done, and not worth the $5 million he was scheduled to earn. The rotation they used last year might not get it done, which is why I'd like to see them draft Terrence Cody or another fat guy.

LT? He's been washed up for a season and a half. Yes, they need a primary ball-carrier who can run between the tackles, just like they did last season. It was their undoing when they couldn't exploit the Jets soft interior in the playoffs. Ryan Mathews at #28 maybe, or possibly Dwyer or Gerhart in the 2nd round.

Cromartie? Too dumb to play zone and too soft to tackle. Cason will be an upgrade in many ways.

Manumaluena? He's only used sparingly in Norv's offense that relies on pass-catching TE's over blocking ends. No real loss.

Osgood? I hate to lose him, but he's a special-teams gunner. Who cares?

This happens every year. The Chargers lose more players than they sign, yet somehow manage to keep building talent. It's called building through the draft, and locking up the core players.

I think the defense will be pretty good, although they really need a 2-gap NT in the middle. It's a young unit. Most of the guys back there are just hitting their primes, and they weren't bad last year. Getting some D-linemen back who were injured last season will help a lot.
