  • Browns and Eagles Trade Players

The Eagles and Browns completed a five-player trade Friday, with Philadelphia sending former Pro Bowl cornerback Sheldon Brown and linebacker Chris Gocong to Cleveland for a fourth-round pick, a fifth-round pick and linebacker Alex Hall.

"Sheldon Brown has been a very good football player for the Eagles over the last eight years," Eagles coach Andy Reid said in a statement. "He's a good person, a legitimate tough guy and he'll do a good job helping the Browns."

It would figure the two teams would be trading partners.

The Browns' general manager, Tom Heckert, is the Eagles' former general manager. Cleveland is likely to extend the contract of Brown, sources close to the deal said.

"Chris did a good job converting from defensive end to linebacker and helped us win a lot of football games," Reid said of Gocong. "We wish both of them all of the best."

The Browns are gone; I'm not a fan of the Impostors

Good move for the Browns. This move does not surprise me at all. Everytime a Eagles DB get close to 10 yrs in the league, they release them. Troy Vincent, Bobby Taylor, Brian Dawkins, Lito Sheppard, and now Sheldon Brown. Good thing Dawk was the heart and soul of their defense, or he would've been gone 5yrs ago.

hmm. Eagles really will need a CB now....Does this bring more life to the situation of oakland and philly.... I still dont think so, but it makes more sense now.
        So far:
        FA- Melvin Gordon. Brandon Scherff
        1. Kenneth Murray LB; 2. Shenault WR; 2B. Biadazz Center, 3. OT

I think so... I'll be PISSED if we get McNabb & Asante(or maybe even no corner) for Nnamdi when we could have had Sheldon.... Sheldon is 10x the better man corner than Asante is and is actually willing to tackle.

Agreed 100%. Sheldon is heavily underrated. If the Eagles do land Nnamdi though, Samuel will lead the league in INT's.

Or for most yards given up, like D. Hall.

this doesnt make sense to me. Eagles didnt get much but gave up a very underrated player and a young player who showed potential.

Good move for browns bad for eagles.
