    He won't start.

Hardesty and Harrison are the backs.

Hillis will only be in when the fullback is needed to run or catch.

Vickers is a great blocking fullback and is much better at that than Hillis.
The Browns are gone; I'm not a fan of the Impostors

The real Browns are in Baltimore, see?

When Hillis got benched, I figured that McDaniels was just establishing his authority again. When Hillis got traded, I figured something was wrong with his leg caused by the injury. I watch the Browns preseason games, and I figure that McDaniels dropped the ball on this one. If Quinn was given a chance to become the starting qb, and future qb, then I understand the trade. McD turned around and drafted Tebow almost instantaneously. We gave up a dependable rb, who always produces positive yardage, wears down defenses, and would serve as an excellent compliment to Moreno, for a backup quarterback. I used to be extremely high on Quinn, when he first came into the league (he's still better than Anderson), but he was thrown under the bus in Cleveland. Now he's just the guy standing behind the man, and next to the future.

I can't figure out why they drafted Hardesty, myself. Harrison is about to be on my fantasy team, and it wouldn't bother me if Hardesty stayed on the sidelines. I'm sure you think he's a future hall of famer though right?

We got the worst of this deal, that is for sure. :brick:
BINGO! You hit the nail on the head --- he fumbled a couple of times and ended up in the doghouse (well, at fullback, which is pretty much the same thing in a primarily one-back offense).

Fact is, Hillis is EXACTLY the type of player McD is always saying he likes --- tough, smart, versatile. Unfortunately, it appears that he's not always the most objective when it comes to evaluating talent.

          Let see ---

Big-name first-round BUST of a QB who couldn't even beat out Derek Anderson (who?) in Cleveland vs. an over-achieving 7th-round steal who plays hard every play and who will do anything just to get on the field....

Sorry, I just can't see how that trade made sense, other than the fact that it was before the draft and he had no idea who'd back up Orton (though I think Brandstater would have been fine, really) and he was tired of hearing the fans and the media talking about a player he had no intention of giving an actual shot.

In any case, I'd take him over any of the FA scrap-pile refugees that are in our backfield for now while we wait on Buck and Knowshon to get healthy --- but you know the saying, "If wishes were horses..."

So, let me get this straight.

You think Harrison is a good runner between the tackles?

Harrison is not a bruiser. Hardesty is a bruiser. Harrison is not and never will be a franchise back. In the AFC North, it is not about tiny fast running backs. It is about big strong backs who can run between the tackles. Hardesty fits that mold. Harrison, does not.

But, I'm glad you chose Harrison because you will be disappointed when he isn't getting TD's.

I was very very very mad when it happened and i'm actually a little madder now about it...Hillis was my favorite Bronco...played as hard as he could at all times and came in a nobody but stepped up and got 6 td's and 5 yards a carry at starting HB when he was a 7th round fullback. He can play HB, FB, TE, or even a little WR since he proved he can catch the ball and run with it.

The problem is that Hardesty left his knee in Tennessee. Durability will be a concern for him even as a rookie. Harrison is a small RB but he carried the ball 29 times against the Bengals. 34 times against the Chiefs. 39 times against the Raiders. 33 times against the Jaguars. And he is still standing. Chris Johnson is not a big RB at all but the Titans keep feeding him the ball and the big plays keep happening.

Too bad I gotta spread my CP's. With Vickers around, one would assume that Hillis was acquired to be that change of pace power back. Being a Broncos fan, who has seen what Hillis can do, the risk reward on where they drafted Hardesty doesn't exactly make sense.

the easy answer is, it is too early to tell, men its only preseason no body is showing the cards in the preseason, yes quinn looks terrible and yes hillis looks good, but really, after only two meaningless preseason games you are ready to jump up and down on the panic button?

I understand the concern If we traded our first RB looking for a franchise QB, but neither of that is true, we traded a serviceable back HB and good a backup QB and some picks

I'll take Moreno Buckhalter and White over Hillis any day, not even shannahan had so much love for Hillis, he got there when everybody else was in the hospital

I wish him well but I understand the trade

.....and here we have the honest truth, which isn't much variance from what was happening with Hillis in Denver.

I was really hoping Hardesty would land in Denver; if he can stay healthy he could have a nice career in the NFL.

I remember people bashing McD for trading cutler to chicago and getting Orton instead of gettin Quinn from Clevelan... good ol times

Quinn will be a good backup, never a starter, but good enough backup

                                Now that is funny!

Who cares. Good luck to Hillis, and heres to Quinn getting more reps and being a decent #2 if that is what comes to pass. :thumb:
A super bowl victory is the only thing that matters in a season. So to show improvement you have to get closer than we were last year. So the AFCC game is a good answer if we only match what we did last year it is a failure. The Giants were 9-7 and won it all so record or first round bye mean nothing unless you win it all-

#87Birdman wrote it- adding Manning, the Broncos should be held to it, and certain posters think otherwise and we know who you are.....
