Jerome Harrison >>> Hillis all day everyday, and twice on Sundays... Congrats to Hillis for averaging 4.2 ypc against the freaking Rams 3rd stringers.

I still think the Browns won the trade, but some of you Hillis lovers are just ridiculous.

Hillis played on the first series last week for Cleveland in GB, and vs. the Rams this week he got his first carry in the 2nd quarter playing with Cleveland's 1st string. The Browns were only on their 10th offensive play going into the 2nd quarter due to 4 fumbles (2 lost) in the 1st quarter.

Either way, Hillis won't be the feature back in Cleveland, but it appears he will be used very regularly. If we have any luck this year Brady Quinn won't be used even for 1 play in an undecided contest.

Quinn is what he is and so is Hillis and both appear to be continuing to do what they did the last 2 years when allowed to play.

I complained the day we traded for Quinn, not because I wanted to keep Hillis but because players of Quinn's caliber should not be traded for, but should be picked up off the Free Agency scrap heap. Cleveland acquired Seneca Wallace for a conditional 6th OR 7th rounder. He is a backup QB I'd much rather have and was had for less.

LOL the guy is a beast. And that was against the starters because #55 is James Laurinaitis (one of the first victims).

I loved watching Hillis play in 2008. He was such a beast and he brought back the Mile High Salute!! I wish him the best in Cleveland.

ya I can't believe I've seen so many people want Quinn in over Orton.(they must be fans from other teams in our division. lol) because everything Isaw in Quinn at Cleveland is no more then what I have seen of him here in Denver, all that equals is ummm new carreer maybe....

I could push for a starting job with the Browns and I am a cripple!!!!!!!!

Seriously, a change in senery can sometimes make a world of difference BUT he wasn't going to start for the Broncos so more power too him.

The thing that blows my mind is how many people get caught up in a players draft selection when looking at this trade. Oh Hillis was a 7th rd FB and Quin a 1st rd QB when what you really need is to look at the FILM. We all know what Hillis did as a rookie when he was given a chance and it was far better production than the 12th pick we wasted on Kno Mo.

Conversely we have seen Quin in Cleveland and what did he really show when he was given a shot? Now throw in the picks and this trade just doesn't make sense to me.

This is probably my biggest issue with McD, he's creating holes on this team that didn't exist instead of addressing the known ones. How many draft picks and FA moves have been wasted on positions that weren't a problem?

Just a few that I think can be agrued.

Cutler - he's traded and McD spent 3 picks to get TT and 2 picks plus a player to get BQ and 1 pick to get TB. That's 7 picks to replace what amounts to 2 players? How about the pick for Kno Mo and all of the wasted moves to bring in other RB scrubs when he could have utilized Hillis?

I guess my point is IMHO he should have looked at what was largely the consensus issue (the defense) and worked on that instead of creating more issues on the team in general.

no but you did trade a productive player for one that is not.

                          Backup quarterbacks never matter.

Until they come in during the second half of a game when the team has a 14 point lead and manages to piss it, and the playoffs, away as a result.

If we had won that Washington game when Orton got injured, which we had WELL in hand at the time I might add, we'd have been in the post-season.

How much does the backup matter now?

                              A lot.

Sadly, I don't think Hillis qualifies.

Moreno, Buckhalter, Clady and more will all be back for game 1 though. We'll also have Larsen and White comes in after week 4. So we'll have backs by season start.

Look for Moreno to have a big opening day. There's a reason McDaniels kept running up the middle last Saturday, and it sure as Hell wasn't to get Fargas practice as a starter.
