  • Sage Rosenfels traded to the Giants.

FOX Sports' Alex Marvez reports that the Vikings have traded Sage Rosenfels to the Giants.

Compensation is not yet known, but a number of teams really missed out on a quality spot starter. Aggressive Giants GM Jerry Reese capitalized, even though his starting quarterback, Eli Manning, has never missed a start. Rosenfels finished the preseason 31-of-51 for 402 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions. He threw 15 TDs in nine games for Houston in 2007. In New York, Rosenfels will be a significant upgrade over Rhett Bomar.

EDIT: In addition to Sage Rosenfels, Giants acquired RB/WR Darius Reynaud from the Vikings in exchange for an undisclosed conditional draft pick.

The Giants have been unable to settle on a punt returner, an area in which Reynaud brings experience. Reynaud was converted into a third-down back during the offseason in Minnesota, but his position is unclear for New York. Either way, Reynaud won't get the football enough to be a fantasy option.

    They got a great QB.

I wonder what they gave up. He'd be an excellent #2 for someone.

And what are they going to do if Favre can't hold up. I love Brett, but he will be gone at the end of the year, like he said.

Tavaris Jackson ain't going to cut it. However, Webbs is a beast so that is pretty good.

I find the move questionable, I like Sage.

Webb's playing pretty good, and I just don't think Tavaris is starter material. Sage is nothing more than a backup and isn't someone you want as your starting QB for a whole season.

Rosenfels looks like a solid QB and the Vikes just couldn't keep 4QBs (even if they pretended Webbs was no a QB). I felt sorry for him when Favre kept coming back, it should have been Rosenfels' team by now.

Agreed, Favre bamboozled Sage. I always liked Sage and he'll find success somewhere soon, even if it be closer to the end of his career. Amazing that the Vikes would trade away the only QB under a contract after this year though.

Giants had no choice but to do it since Houston was going to make a claim on him when they released him and Houston I believe is in better position than Giants for waiver wire.

Kind of odd seeing as he was probably their best QB after Favre...
Only fools bet against Tim Tebow.

                Team Tebow #108

                Yards, without points, mean nothing.

Joe Webb is Minnesota's QB after Favre, if Favre, will Favre ever retire?

Sage Rosenfels is more useful and therefore more tradeable.

Jackson has sufficient experience to be the backup for the moment.

Joe Webb is an amazing athlete on the football field.

                    Good trade by the Vikes.

lol before preseason no one thought twice about webb. From everything i've heard the team is completely behind TJ to start after this year (they said they were ready this year). Now you can either take that as them being nice or that they feel he can be their qb

I wouldnt use webb for a while though. He reminds me of a more athletic TJ in his rookie season.

no one knows what the vikes got for these guys?
