Brett Favre and the passing game looked abysmal. There didn’t seem to be much communication or trust for that matter, between Favre and the wide receivers, which eventually led to the Vikings' downfall.

The Saints showed they could be just as aggressive on the ground as they are through the air. So far there seems to be no hangover from their Superbowl victory.

I made a few bets with my dad and thought it was an enjoyable game. Nice way to kick off the season.

Usually the first real game of the season is rough on all of the teams. Tonight's hoopla for the Saints was an overwhelming emotional night for them and the Vikings with the Favre drama was no exception.

Both teams will settle down next week and I would expect them both to pull victories next week.

Come Sunday, it will be the same around the league as teams gear up with as hyped, the Cowboys/Redskins game also having a big lead up to it's kickoff that evening.

This is nothing new having week 1 being less than stellar.

Was a boring game but thats expected for 1st week of the season. Brett Fave played bad the lost of Sidney Rice hurt them there WR look weak and Brett doesn't have any chemistry with them.

Favre missing camp and the loss of Sidney Rice definitely hurt their team, and you could see that the loss of Chester Taylor loomed a bit larger than anyone would have thought. Oh, and McKinnie going down is VERY, VERY BAD for the Vikings. I think Phil Loadholt has a good career ahead of him, but it's asking an awful lot of that guy to play left tackle in his second year without much practice at the position.

The Saints looked better than a lot of people think. Yeah, their offense struggled a bit, but I think the Vikings defense is a tall order for any offense to play against. The running game surprised me in the second half, although I was wondering at halftime if Payton was setting that up by refusing to run the ball in the first. Pierre Thomas is a hell of a running back, and I hope he doesn't wear down too early. The passing game has some kinks to work out, but I'm sure they'll be back to their high-flying ways soon enough. I think we'll see Shockey get more involved in the attack going forward. Just a hunch.

Overall, what seemed like a fairly uneventful game on the surface was pretty revealing.
I think Toby Gerhardt was supposed to fill that void but he is injured I think? Your right though, this was a very revealing game to me...and if it doesn't change I figure the NFC to be up for grabs :thumb:

ya this game was lame and boring in just about all forms of the game

idk how both teams stack up in the NFC, the saints have the better shot imo

Ditto, a bit of a disappointment for the opener.

Very true, but usually teams suck in the first game.
Us and Cincy last year was interesting, but very low-scoring. Maybe we were too good!

The Saints are vulnerable, in my opinion, but so is Favre, he has NO chemistry with the Wrs.

Farve does not look good, not sure why the Vikings are not running the ball more.
