Jets' Braylon Edwards arrested on drunken driving charge in New York
    09:03 AM

New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving Tuesday morning.

Police in New York City told the New York Post that they arrested Edwards around 5:15 a.m. and that he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.16. New York's legal limit it .08.

Edwards was scheduled to be arraigned later Tuesday. He was photographed at a charity event for teammate Jerricho Cotchery's foundation on Monday evening.

He has not made a comment about the arrest.

Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum said the team is "disappointed in Braylon's actions" and noted that Edwards is aware of the team's safe ride program.

"We are reviewing the information with the league and will impose the appropriate disciplinary measures," Tannenbaum said in a statement.

Edwards' arrest comes two days after he caught a TD in the Jets' 28-14 win against the Patriots. Edwards was penalized for taunting after the arrest.

On Monday, coach Rex Ryan said Edwards' penalty was "selfish" and kept him from earning a game ball after the win.

Edwards pleaded no contest in January to a misdemeanor assault charge stemming from an incident when he was accused of hitting Edward Givens, a friend of NBA star LeBron James, outside a Cleveland nightclub. The NFL opted not to suspend him for that incident under the league's personal-conduct policy.

The Jets already have one receiver, Santonio Holmes, who is serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on substance abuse.

Anyone catch that - taunting after the arrest, not the touchdown. Regardless, this guy needs to take advantage of the JET safe ride program.

Um... I think he means "after the play."

I saw this on ESPN.com's twitter:

@RichCimini RT @EricStangel Braylon Edwards arrested for DWI. His blood-alcohol was .16, then they added on another .15 for taunting. Not good. about an hour ago
So, they are saying a .31 BAL? He's lucky he just got pulled over because at 0.31 you're at unconscious status.

Doesn't suprise me that team is full of thugs. There isn't a leader on that team. Its interesting. McD and Rex Ryan got hired around the same time. But Rex Ryan is going after talent and no matter the character. While McD is going after high character players only. I think short term Jets are better off, but I think long term we will be the better team.

No surprise how very Leon-like of him.

            Leon Commercial #2

It is as if Braylon Edwards' career was the inspiration for the Leon commercials.

The real Browns are in Baltimore, see?

Has Edwards been suspended from the NFL before?

If not...4 games. As soon as possible. At least, the Jets should suspend him for the game this coming weekend.

              I doubt they will, though.

Couldn't agree more This is why I see nothing special in the Jets. Sure they have more star power than any other team in the league, but they don't have a team, it's a bunch of separate guys in it for themselves. For example, IMO we have a team, a bunch of guys that work well together and do what's best for the team, the Jets don't have that as seen here.

The Jets are pathetic, they think they are the NFL's darlings.
