  • All things Peyton Hillis (Merged)

I know its been said before by a few, but we really should have never gotten rid of this guy.

He gives 110% every trip, and he was one of my favorite players when he was here. It truly is sad that McDaniels never gave him an oppertunity, and completely wrote him off just cause he was a "Shanny" guy (IMO)

We can't run the ball to save our lives and its obviously the offensive line, but I would argue even Hillis could get a yard or two more then the guys we have now.

We gave up Hillis and a draft pick to get Quinn, and then were forced to spend another pick to get Maroney and at the end of the day, Hillis is tearing it up in Cleveland, Quinn sucks, we can't run the ball, and were out two draft picks to boot.

I know this topic has been discussed a time or ten here on these boards but let me just reiterate what a stupid move getting rid of Peyton was.

    What a shame.

I'm with ya' brutha. It's the thing McD has done that I have always thought was the dumbest. He didn't use him right last year and trading him IMHO was an incredible waste.

I was pulling my hair out last year when we struggled so bad in short yardage with a 250lb beast with a never say die attitude sitting on the bench. That is one decision I just cant stand.

Probably also has more yards and rushing/recieving touchdowns then all of our Running Backs COMBINED all while playing for that "PowerHouse" of a football team in Cleveland.

Id say a fumble negates 50yards rushing and 1 td

Id say the Cleveland Browns are falling over laughing at us for that trade. How many times has Hillis fumbled this year?? And Im not being sarcastic, Im asking because I dont know.

Everytime I see him he's either running someone over like a Mack Truck or making one handed catches putting points on the board.

I was one of the very few people defending him all of last season.

I'm still bitter that we traded him.

His stats don't lie. He was absolutely lighting it up in Denver with Shanahan regardless of him fumbling or not this guy is a beast.

I assure you it is not our RBs fault that we are so terrible on the ground...

                      unfair comparison.

I don't like the argument of "shanny's guy"...

Champ was shannys guy... dumervil was... dj williams was... royal was... there many other examples... and he just happened to dislike hillis because he was shannys guy???

i'm sure there was something that happened behind the scenes that contributed to his playing time.

I was one of you guys, hating mcd for not playing hillis more and hated the trade.. but i've moved on and still like hillis.

there definitely wasn't 'few' people defending him... basically most of bronco nation was.

                        He's definitely better than Maroney.

Nah, I doubt there was something behind the scenes, Josh drafted Moreno and picked up Bucky, those were "his" guys, make no mistake about it, and you may not like the term "Shanny's guy" but for every guy you listed that's still here there is 1 or more who aren't

                            Its more then a coincidence.

For the record, Ive moved on too, Im not going over the top on the matter, nor being a whiner like a lot of people are doing on the boards (usually after losses)

Im simply just reiterating how much it sucks to see him do well ( on a crap team) like a lot of us knew he was capable of doing here (but never got the chance) and to top it all of, we gained a crappy QB and lost two draft picks in the matter (one being for Maroney since Moreno is hurt and if we had Hillis still we would never have had to make that move)

Just sucks is all, not the end of the world.

I'm worried about his fumbles but he was tough today playing with a thigh injury/pulled quadriceps. I liked these plays:

I hope we can see these kinds of plays from Gronkowski in the future.
