  • Math Super Bowl Question

Well, here is an interesting math question. A Super Bowl commercial in 2011 costs $3,100,000 for 30 seconds of ad time. How much would a 1 second commerical cost this year? Is it $310 a second? Is my answer right?

Its 3,100,000 divided by 30. 3,100,000 divided by 10 is 310,000. That divided by 3 would be 103,333.33.

      I think. I don't have a calculator

Wow that's a lot of money. How much *in scientific notation* do you think it would cost to buy all the SB ad air time?

how many commercials are played during the superbowl???

lets say... 4 commercials per break, 5 breaks per quarter, plus halftime which is like 15 commercials???

          35ish???

          35*3.1mill

          about 104million i would think...

          so what is that, 1.04*10^8????

well... math isn't tough if you pay attention...

you told me how much it cost per 30 seconds... you just divide that by 30 to get it per 1 second.

then you wanted to find the total... first you need to know how many commercials are played during a super bowl, then multiply that by the 30 second price thing you gave.

              its really simple math though.

Yes, but how many 32 cents stamps are there in a dozen?
                  When 303 calls... you answer.
