  • Titans and RB Johnson agree to MEGA Deal...

Titans agreed to terms with Chris Johnson on a four-year, $53.5 million contract.
Johnson will get at least eight days of practice in before Week 1, giving him plenty of time to prepare to play against against the Saints. Owners drafting this weekend can safely select CJ2K No. 1 overall in most formats. Even if he is eased in slowly at first, Johnson will resume every-down status rapidly. His deal includes a whopping $30 million in guarantees and a $13.3 million annual salary. If those numbers hold up upon further examination, CJ2K will have gotten exactly what he wanted -- elite player, not just elite running back money. The deal includes $30 million guaranteed. We'll have to see the true numbers before passing judgment, but a $13.5 million annual salary would make Johnson

It just lets all good players know, that a desperate team will cough up how ever much money you ask for.

He is going to start the season slow.. Everyone else is in football shape except him..

I even believe since he is not in football shape, he will have an injury riddled season...

Injuries haven't been to kind to long holdout players throughout the years. My bet he has a lot of nagging hammy and groin pulls and strains this year..

sad but true..but the sad thing is, that he won't even have that much impact on the team either way

its not like if Big Al held out for them in 07-08...CJ is just like any typical RB..just faster

he's a hit or miss runner, and with their offensive line...I'm sure their second or third back could get alot of yardage

Oh, I don't know. Chris keeps himself in really good shape. He might not get a lot of carries the first week, but being a back going into his fourth year he will probably benefit from not having the pounding of TC and the preseason.

I personally have no problem with him holding out for this deal. RB's have a very short careers. If they don't get paid on their second deal, then they probably don't ever get paid what they're worth, unless they're a really high draft pick like AP. CJ2K was a late first and has been paid nothing close to what he's worth.

I believe his accomplishments speak for themselves. He is an elite player and still has put up monster numbers without any top shelf WR's, and inconsistency at the QB position. He's very much a modern day Barry Sanders in many ways.

no he's not...he's a hit or miss RB with speed

the line is the reason for the numbers, as it is with almost every RB...ask the Seahawks...SA may have been by his actual skill the worst starting RB in football and he had a record breaking season because of that monster line

watch him drop because he got his new deal, no more motivation to do good...the NFL is truly an impure sport if it is encouraged for players to hold out for enough money to live the rest of their lives guaranteed...to then probably drop in production

the Titans are absolute MORONS for giving him this deal

I don't discount your arguments, but I just disagree. I don't think there are many who can do what he did with no passing attack.....6.2 yards per carry and 2k yards...? That's elite any way you slice it.

that 2009 season was great, your right..and he's been good

but because of his actions, he seems like the type who will lose motivation once he has his contract...plus with the Titans line, they wouldn't lose much with him gone

                  CJ2K

One of the best backs in the game right now.

It's pretty damn hard to rush for 2K yards too. Just FYI

He is probably over paid, sure. But he deserved at least a new contract.

its also pretty hard to rush for 1880but Shawn Alexander did it and he may have been the worst starting RB by his actual skill

stats don't hold alot of legitimacy in how good a back really is

Shawn Alexander may have not looked to good in the last few years of his career, but he was a big back with decent speed, and very elusive. There's a reason he was a first round draft pick.

Nevertheless you're not comparing apples to apples. The Seahawks had a very balanced offense and were a SB caliber team. They also had one of the best left side O-lines in the history of the game.

                      CJ2k IS the Titans offense.

Johnson needs to go buy Michael Roos a big, fat steak dinner and a Thank You card if he wants to ever live up to this contract...

he has had way to many games last year where he was either shut down or was average or below. He is really not worth that type of money. If your an elite player and an elite running back then you bring it every game. Yes every player has a bad game but had way to many last year. At the running back position there is always some young guy ready to have a breakout season. I would have moved on and traded him and continued to build the team up for when locker takes over.

Definitely not a waste of money. I'm not sure how these guys win more than 2 games this year if he's not playing.
