No way belichick/brady can ever be considered now that they're 0-2 vs coughlin/eli

    Pretty much.

They needed this win for a variety of reasons. It was basically the one that was going to set them apart from everyone else, and at crucial moments they made poor decisions and called bad plays.

No, they'll still be brought up in the argument. They're the most winning coach/QB combo in NFL history and the only coach/QB combo to reach 5 Super Bowls together, so they still have a great argument. A win would've really helped their argument, but a loss didn't kill it.

Also, if they stay together for another 4 or 5 seasons, they could possibly cement themselves in as the greatest pair of all time. We'll see what happens.

Yeah but there's mitigating factors here.

They're 0-2 in the Super Bowl since Spygate.

They lost the Super Bowl to the exact same coach and the exact same quarterback TWICE.

They're two of the most unlikeable people in Pro Football.

While I agree it doesn't eliminate them from the conversation, this REALLY puts a negative check on their resumes.

Can the media finally quit referring to the Patriots as a dynasty? It's going to be a minimum of 8 years in between championships...any dyansty that may have existed is long since dead!

I'll probably be very wrong but I have a feeling that Belichik is going to retire, all of the reports of him being so calm and relaxed this year makes me wonder if he hasn't decided to move on.

I think as long as the coach and quarterback are still present we can still count it.

Obviously them winning 3 Super Bowls in 4 years is a huge accomplishment. And going to 5 total is pretty remarkable.

I just think that they've been exposed now as a one-trick pony and I think it's highly unlikely we'll see them get back to the big game while they're in New England.

I don't think it's that unlikely. There aren't any big powerhouses in the AFC to stop them. PIT has gone downhill. IND is probably going to start from scratch and struggle for a while. They beat BAL even with a horrible defense. HOU looks great on paper, but so have SD for years, so we don't know what will happen with them. It actually looks like NE has a good chance to get into the playoffs next year and possibly make it to another SB again just based on the AFC competition.

I'm glad the Giants won. I am tired of seeing NE take it all. Now NE has lost there last two and both to Eli and the Giants.

agreed.. but even if they were to win a couple more superbowls somebody will always say, yeah but coughlin/eli were better than they were...and how can you argue?

This one definately takes a little off the GOAT talk.

Sucks his WR's had to have stone hands today.

the patriots won 3 superbowls by the slimmest of margins...now they've lost two the same way....they used to get all the breaks, now the breaks have gone the other way...law of averages
