  • This is why everyone hates the Patriots.

I don't think the Pats are hated for spygate. I think the reason they are hated is because people are jealous of their success. They want their team to be like the Patriots but know it's not possible. It's one of the best run organizations in all of sports.

Well... I am sure jealousy plays a little bit of a role for some people... with anything success breads jealousy... that being said I am sure its a combination of things from spygate, to the fan base "band wagon nation" , I find belicheat to be rather 'smug' at times same with brady. "the patriot way" as they

Plus if your team is 'winning' a lot you are beating everyone else's team so of course they will resent that no one likes losing! ... well except maybe the browns... I am convince that fan base is made up of a city of masochists.

      It's like anything

I disagree. I never heard a bad word mentioned about them until Spygate. I certainly had no ill will until then

Jealousy really is the only reason I hate them.

When the Broncos went to the 97 season Super Bowl, my friends who all liked other teams were indifferent about them. Some of them even rooted for the Broncos because they were underdogs or they thought it was cool that Elway could finally get his ring.

Cut to 99 after they had won back-to-back Super Bowls and every one of my friends talked crap about the Broncos and how they didn't like them. Success brings hate.

The Pats have been to 5 Super Bowls in 11 seasons and won 3 of them while consistently being good over that time. They've broken scoring records and all kinds of individual passing records during that time. Brady and Belichick have the most wins of any coach/QB combo in NFL history. That is a lot of success to hate on.

When you add to that the way Belichick comes off in interviews and press conferences and the fact that Brady has a Victoria's Secret model wife and he appears in GQ magazine etc., and how they ran up the score like crazy in the 07 season and in some other seasons as well, it makes people hate them that much more. Also, the tuck rule and the "don't hit Brady" rules make people hate them even more.

I disagree. Belichick is a cheater and all he got was a slap on the wrist. IMO, he should have been kicked out of the league and never allowed to coach again.

The media might be the reason many hate the Pats. They're always praising Belichick and calling him a genius. It's like every play that is successful or strategic, guys are like "and that's what makes the Pats and Belichick so great." They can call a knee before halftime and get comments like "Belichick is a GENIUS! Only a smart coach would call that play not risking injury to his star QB."

                  Ok maybe I'm exaggerating lol

                      1) Tuck rule

                      2) Spygate

                      3) "Brady rule"

                      4) Josh McDaniels

The Giants have been a successful organization and I don't hate them. I have a lot of respect for Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning.

agree with all of the above.

Everyone talks about what a classy organization the Patriots have but cheaters have no class. Then some rules are changed or ignored because the league wants to baby their QB, although same rules are ignored/allowed oppositely if it isn't Brady.

Also... McDaniels came to our team and completely dismantled them, brought that Spygate crap to our organization KNOWINGLY (anyone who believes he didn't do that on purpose is naive) with the SAME videographer that they used in NE.

to me Brady is overrated. Sure he's a swell QB, but he's a system QB. that's for another discussion.

I just wish the media and their own fans would recognize that without Adam Vinatieri, their precious infallible QB has ZERO rings.

I agree with 80stheman, Bilicheat should have been kicked out of the NFL along with his coordinators (especially including McDaniels).

They should have been forced to vacate their SB wins

I don't mind them, but they were never caught cheating (that I know of)
