IMO the penalties are going to be stiff, I think Gregg Williams has coached his last game in the NFL, I think Payton and Loomis will be suspended for the entire season and the Saints will be fined $500,000 plus lose their 2nd round pick this year (highest pick they have) and a 1st or 2nd rounder next year.

If it is as prevelant as some claim these punishments will ensure that the programs are shut down immediately.
I was going to bring up something about circumventing the salary cap.

A few years back the league looked into comments made by a Packer player about having won a bonus for making a big play in a game. The NFL looked into it, but no evidence was found because it was just one player making a comment. There was still a lot of worry that the Packers would have lost a pick because of the comments. The main issue was that all monies payed to players must be reported so it goes against the salary cap.

If the reports are true that New Orleans kept records of who got paid, then the NFL has got their smoking gun.

this really is alot bigger then any1 thought it was gunna be, if goodell doesnt do something harsh it would only hurt the NFLs image in the public eye. He knows this ripples down thru college and highschool.

CA: Is safety and the possible introduction of an 18 game season the next frontier of discussion?

Smith: Safety is an everyday concern and we always look at it as a construct that we continually work through. There is no big event on the horizon. There is no singular issue. Our job is to look at the issue of safety as a holistic one and to take very aggressive steps to make sure it remains safe.
          Oh, the irony, NFLPA.....

they've had plenty of dirty hits on the panthers. A very rough PI call(that wasn't called) on Olsen the last game and then the more well know but much less rough UR call on Smitty in the 1st game.

Then they have fujita diving at Smitty's knee but that was before Greg Williams I believe.

Dan Patrick was talking to Tony Dungy about this hit today on his radio show. It was when the Colts played the Redskins when Gregg Williams was the DC.
Dungy said Manning told Jim Sorgi to get ready to play, and that was the only time he ever made any references of coming out of a game in his entire career.
