Mike Shanahan is quite possibly the best offensive mind for RG3 to reach his immensely high ceiling. Let Shanny develop him and eventually he'll hit on a draft pick here and there and that team will be good. Plus they lost Orakpo, Davis, Garcon, Carriker, Merriweather, Jamaal Brown, and Trent Williams is banged up. If Brown can come back and Williams can get healthy that o-line can finally start to gel and play better. Garcon and Davis would help them out a lot but they're both hurt. Merriweather, Carriker, and Orakpo all figured to be big parts of the defense particularly Orakpo. And then they have Tanard Jackson who was suspended for the year. When your best pass rusher and your best safeties are hurt and you have Madieu Williams and Reed Doughty starting in place of those safeties, your defense won't be good.
Mike Shanahan isn't an unproven coach or a coach with a bad track record. He won 2 super bowls and had a very good record here with us. He'll get a little more time than most new coaches do because he's already proven that he can put a good team out there.

Coach Speak: Shanahan quits?

he has time right now to build it. With RG3 being a rookie, he will have 2 more years to build a contender. Unfortunately, he has little in terms of draft picks and is one RG3 injury from people questioning if its time for him to go.

Well he did lose his top two defenders. Can't say it's his fault the defense is bad when he doesn't really have any impact players anymore.

Just because the Skins are struggling now doesn't mean you just cut the HC. They have some good talent on that team and a good QB in his rookie year.
I just hate the instant culture of having to win in 2-3 years or your gone. If you take the time to pick out the HC you want to lead the team then give him time.
A very good example would be Kubiak in Houston, patience pays off.
I guess a bad example would be Norv lol
Struggling to score points despite lots of yards. Knee-jerk reactions. Bad evaluator of defensive talent and coaches. Team falls apart down the stretch.
Until he's willing to concede he can't be a head coach AND de facto GM, it won't suddenly get better for him.Last edited by mojo0730; 11-05-2012, 04:51 PM.

I respect the heck out of Mike Shanahan. I don't believe we win our Super Bowls in the 90's without his genius offensive scheme.
Having said that, his stint in Washington has been a clear indication to me that a) the Broncos made the right choice in firing him; and b) he's nowhere near the coach he once was.
Maybe it's time for Shanahan to step aside after this season (if Snyder doesn't outright fire him, that is)?Tags: None
