  • For those of you who are local here in Denver, I just called into 104.3 The Fan and asked Sandy Clough about his opinion on ROTY between Wilson and Griffin. Those two play each other this Sunday, and even though ROTY is regular season only, I asked him if Sunday's game of Wilson vs RG3 would influence his opinon on who should/should've won.

He went on to talk about both Griffn and Wilson for about 3 minutes after I hung up. He talked about how Wilson has been on the rise the last few months, and how his QB rating has been through the roof since November. He also mentioned how Griffin has been consistent all year, not just late in the season, and talked about Griffin's leadership abilities and being named a team captain and leading Washington on that 7-game winning streak (though cousins won 1.5 of those games LOL)

At the end of his opinions, he sighed and took a deep breath for a few seconds as he thought about it. He said its really, really tough, but Sandy said he would lean towards Wilson. As a Skins fan, its not what I wanted to hear, but I understand his thoughts and he's probably right.

With Wilson being so hot at the end of the season, that's what is fresh on everybody's mind. People forget that Griffin through the first 8 games of the season, had 14 total touchdowns and just 3 interceptions. In comparison, through Wilson's first 8 games, he had only 10 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. So even though the Redskins finished the season with 7 straight wins, Griffin somewhat "cooled off" in the second half of the season, where as Wilson got hot.

At this point, it's gonna be a toss up

See, that's what I thought as well. Is the "Pepsi Rookie of the Year" the official award? Here's Pepsi's site where anybody can vote: http://www.nfl.com/voting/rookies/2012/YEAR/0

Is that the actual ROTY award? The Pepsi one? Or is there a separate, "official" ROTY award given out by the media or the NFL or something?

Part of that had to do with his knee injury, right? He still played good, but you could tell that it bothered/hindered him.

          • Thanks for clarifying.

@ Peanut, yes. The RG3 had to wear a very clunky knee brace for the last 3 games of the season, and it greatly impacted his mobility. Not only to run, but even dropping back to pass. But hey, he still got it done, Redskins won 7 in a row, and went from 3-6 to 10-6 and NFC East champs.
