Also you do realize there is an extremely good chance that both Martin and Luck's teams will have losing records by the end of the season right?Last edited by DenverBlood; 11-28-2012, 07:34 AM.sigpic

But RG3 has a higher completion % than Wilson on more pass attempts. More yards, less TD's but less interceptions as well. But RG3's rushing stats dwarf Wilsons. Which is where I really think he gets the edge.
But the most important stat that people seem to ingore in this discussion.
Qb Rating.
4. RG3 at 104.6
12. Wilson at 93.9
29. Luck at 76.7
I mean really people Luck? Outside of record there is no basis for this argument for him to be the ROY. Any other player with that efficiency that didn't have the name coming out of college would be considered a bust. With the exception of a few games the Colts are largely winning in spite of Luck not because of Luck.sigpic

Far from decent.
Luck is winning games with a leaky D and no running game. The Colts are the #7 passing team in the league where as the Redskins are the 19th.
tMHG had it right, the Redskins owe a lot of their offensive production to Alfred Morris. Not saying that RG3 isn't ballin out because he certainly is.
I've watched every game of both QB, well, that's not true I missed one of RG3s, but its very clear to me who the better QB is.sigpic

However isn't it possible that the Colts defense is rated a bit lower in points per game due to all the Pick 6's Luck has thrown? I know 2 specifically against New England and he has thrown more than that. He has at least 3 on the season which lowers the teams points per game allowed a whole 2 ppg. The defense isn't as bad as it seems at times.
Also sure Lucks passing offense is #7 in passing offense. But the guy has thrown 9 more interceptions and has also thrown well over 100 times more. That's going to get you an extra 700 yards when you throw all the time.
RG3 yards per attempt is 8.21 to Lucks 7.14.
But I also don't see why people want to ignore RG3's rushing yards so much. It gives him a clear advantage because he dwards Luck in that category just like Wilson.
It's not an award for best rookie Qb in the league. It's an award for best offensive rookie. So we really shouldn't be picking out only favorable categories for Luck like record and total yards and say he deserves it. Especially when RG3 is better in so many more categories.sigpic

The Colts has a middle of the pack defense that can some what help Luck,if he messes up...RG3 has one of the worst defenses in the league and has to play great in order for the Redskins to win, even then the defense cant stop anybody to save their life...Im surprised they stopped the Cowboys on Thanksgiving....I support Kaepernick 100%

Last I checked play action fake is how all Shanahan Qb's get it done. So Shanahan Qb's never deserve awards?
Guess Elway didn't deserve SB MVP since 80 yards came off a play action fake to Rod Smith.sigpic

My argument was with someone incorrectly using stats to compare two players they don't watch.
And, yes, it does matter. You even started using stats to try and solidify that RG3 was the better passer. What I said is true, and it bears attention. Go watch all of RG3's touchdowns. PA, PA, PA, PA, Read option, run/pass option, PA PA PA PA PA
Having a good running game (including RG3 being able to run the ball which is why I personally think he wins ROY) is the reason why RG3 appears to statistically be the better passer. You can't just throw away the fact that the Redskins are the #2 running team in the league.
Like I said earlier, the Redskins run the ball well and RG3's passing as a whole is off of play action. The Colts aren't a threat to run the ball and people play them almost exclusively to pass.sigpic

I'm fine with RG3 winning OROY, but no way should he win ROY in my view with below .500% record.
And it's rediculous to fault RG3 for his team sucking when his stats are better.sigpic

Cam Newton won rookie of the year, just last year with a 6-10 record, why not RG3...
RG3 will have better stats at the end of the season and you're saying he's not worthy of rookie of the year...really.....And how do you know RG3 will have a losing record at the end of the year...RG3 plays the Giants,Ravens,Browns,Eagles and Cowboys and he could go 3-2 in the next 5 games with an 8-8 record...Do you still believe he shouldnt win rookie of the year then...
I just dont understand how people can say records matter when Cam Newton just won it last year with a losing record and RG3 might have better numbers than he(Cam) did last year...I support Kaepernick 100%

So the Redskins have a better run game. Ok. RG3 is a huge part of that success. Which should also be factored in. I'm not saying long term for a career RG3 will be a better passer. So maybe it's in the confines of a specific system but he is still executing it at an extremely high level.
Once again It's not an award for who is the best pure passer. Otherwise Doug Martin's name doesn't belong near this thread. It's an award for best overall offensive rookie. And based on stats it's RG3 no question.
So some peopel don't want to give it to a guy with a losing record. I think it's worse to give it to a guy with the 29th passer rating.sigpic
