Maybe they trade down and go after Barkley or Gino?
I am going to say Alex Smith has moved well beyond being just a game manager thanks to Harbaugh. He has limitations as far as arm strength but he makes great decisions with the ball , will put up a great QBR, and he can run. So Reid could sign Alex Smith and trade down to draft Geno Smith

    Sounds like deal is done.

Make that six head coaching vacancies. What has seemed inevitable in recent days is now (almost) official, as ESPN’s Chris Mortensen has now reported that Andy Reid has agreed to a deal to become the next head coach of the Chiefs.Mortensen points out that “lawyers reviewing contract,” which I suppose leaves a 5 percent chance something [more]

Well, with Pioli and the Chiefs 'mutually agreeing' to part ways, looks like Reid is going there and will have some kind of personnel power. Interesting.

Boyd is a junior. Redshirted in 2009, backup in 2010, starter in 2011 and 2012. I think he should at least consider the possibility of entering the draft. Boyd said he will seek an evaluation from the advisory board. He could be targeted at least by Andy Reid and Chip Kelly. I have no idea if he possesses the football IQ and work ethic, but I've seen some impressive throws and his mobility is a plus.

This doesn't concern me in the slightest.

Reid is a good coach and arguably the best coach known to be available. However, I also think he's gasesd out and would be better suited taking a year off. I don't think jumping from one sinking ship to another is the best thing for his career.

I know........plus the fact that we are giving KC "BIG HINTS" as to how to fix their team.....

Boyd's a junior. Hopkins is coming, Ellington is coming out, Ford is coming out, and Sammy Watkins was inconsistent this year. I don't think Boyd would do much for himself by going back, his stock can only go down imo.

we all talk about trading down, other QBs, other players, etc...but the truth is...if Geno shows well at the combine he very well might be the guy there. I wouldn't be surprised to see them take Mike Glennon in the 2nd though.

I tend to agree with you. Reid has had his share of mobile QBs, and as the draft gets closer, QBs start to look better. If Smith's stock is decent by April, it definitely could happen. Teams are not enamoured with stop gap situations, when they can go for the future all in one draft pick.

Tajh Boyd will likely remind him a lot of Donovan McNabb actually. I'd be surprised if they took him first overall though

Yes he likes his athletic qbs which is why if he goes to kc I could see Mike Vick over there too

We have John Elway running the show, and a heck of a good coach in John Fox. When you are the best, what the dirty masses below you do doesn't really matter.

That said, KC could do much worse than Reid, he's a good coach.
