  • Andy Reid and Kansas City on verge of a deal

    Per Schefter and Mort

“@AdamSchefter: From @mortreport and me: Chiefs on verge of a deal with Andy Reid. One source said “the major issues have been discussed and agreed upon.””

“@mortreport: Andy Reid and #Chiefs are on verge of a deal. Story up on http://t.co/JGa47PVh short on on SportsCenter via myself and @AdamSchefter”

If its the old Andy Reid they're getting great hire for them, but if its recent Reid good for us.
What's the difference between ignorance and apathy?
    I don't know and I don't care

Kinda shocked, it was all but a sure thing he'd sign with Arizona. Even more was shocked and thought Reid was gonna be the next Cardinal coach.

Heck, the Cards thought they'd have him signed by Friday.

Agreed this could be a nightmare for us. But recent Reid is a major underachiever. Though to be fair he wasn't given a good QB. Same was true for Fox before we brought him in.

He can only be as successful as what the GM gives him to work with.

It wouldn't be a major dissapointment to have the AFCW be a big NFL factor again and not just a 1 team show. Would also make it sweeter to win.

But I would like to just easily dominate the division for a decade or so.

So who's his QB going to be, because "to be fair", he hasn't got one now.

Does he go after an existing one or draft somene like Geno Smith? As far as I can tell, this team's future rests on that decision. I've written about it elsewhere. KC could be a good team with a quality QB. Of course that can be said for a lot of teams, but in my opinion, they can easily go from 2 and 14 to 8 and 8 with a few good moves. But a rookie QB will take longer.....unless there's another Luck or RGIII or Russ Wilson out there.

I hope it happens, it's good for the division. With the exception of the Broncos, the AFC West is in shambles.

I think this is a bad move for the Chiefs and great for us... Isn't this the coach that likes to throw a lot and avoid the run like it is the plague. So keeping the ball out of Charles hands sounds great for us bad for them lol.

I wouldn't blame the last eagles season so much on Reid, with thoughts that he wasn't going to make a comeback elsewhere. He had a bunch of prima donna's on the team who they started weeding out mid season. He lost his son to an overdose during preseason. He had to fire his defensive cord. and close friend midway through the season. I think there was a lot of contributing factors to their bad season, one was picking vick as the qb over the last couple years just because they never seemed to play like much of a team when he was qb'n. my opinion. I think he's gonna be scary when he takes on a new position, and what happened with the deal with the cards?

As much as I wish the combo of Pioli and Cren could have been there 4eva, this is a good thing for our division as a whole. The good part will be since FA and draft QB pickings are slim, we may see Kolb as a Chef. And VonDoom would love that! Champ and the DB's would love it as well.

But eventually he will draft a QB and JonJon will have to step things up offensively quite a bit, figuring that Manning will be gone by then.

We have scraped up from the bottom of the pile to reclaim OUR division and ultimately I trust JonJon to keep it that way and progress as the competition increases.

                But good for KC.

That is a story that got blown all out of proportion this season. In 2011 McCoy had 273 attempts...7th in the league. This year he had 200 attempts which is 23rd in the league and he only played in 12 games. As a team they were 13th in rushing this season and 5th last year. That doesn't even take into consideration of Michael Westbrook's time there.

Andy Reid does run the ball, it just got overshadowed by the Vick story and them having such a bad year this season.

Andy Reid is the best coach they could get, imo. If they get Reid plus a QB like Alex Smith, they will no longer be the pushovers they have been lately.

Actually I was referring back to when they had McNabb and not a running QB like Vick. Granted their RB was Westbrook, but I have a feeling if Reid managed to get a handle on the type of team he wants it will transform into a passing attack once again.

But then again he might draft smith and keep that running attack, but if they just ignore the line and go for weapons and deep routes Miller might get the sack record because that is what we were always lacking. A team that goes verticle to increase our sack count number lol.

                        Found this article on NFL.com

If Andy Reid lands the Kansas City Chiefs' head-coaching job, he'd like to bring in former Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles general manager Tom Heckert. Bye bye, Scott Pioli?

Andy Reid has told the Kansas City Chiefs that he's a package deal with former Cleveland Browns general manager Tom Heckert, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported, citing a source with knowledge of Reid's pitch.

If Reid is hired and brings along Heckert as he hopes, it would almost certainly mean the end of current GM Scott Pioli's tenure with the Chiefs.

Reid and Heckert previously worked together with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Looks like it will have to be a package deal so no more pioli...hmmm...

Andy Reid is a very good head coach. A change of scenery is all he needs to rejuvenate his coaching career (similar to what happened with John Fox).

Reid will make the Chiefs competitive again, which is great for the division but bad for us.

Another article that says that he could still interview with the cards and now the Chargers.

The competition to hire Andy Reid has picked up. While one report suggests Reid is close to a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, the coach still plans to continue interviewing elsewhere.

The marathon interview between the Kansas City Chiefs and coach Andy Reid has sparked a report that a deal is close. But Reid's actions tell a a different story.

Reid will interview with the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday as planned, according to NFL.com's three amigos: Steve Wyche, Ian Rapoport and Albert Breer. Reid also plans to interview with the San Diego Chargers this weekend, which is near where he owns a home, someone with knowledge of the meetings told Wyche.

This is officially silly season when it comes to coaching news. ESPN reported just two days ago that there was a "95%" chance that Reid would land in Arizona. Now the same network is reporting that Reid and the Chiefs are close to a deal. That may very well prove correct, but he still plans to meet with two other teams.

Those interviews could change Reid's plans. Or he could change his mind again and close the deal in Kansas City. ESPN reported that the "major issues" had been agreed upon iwith the Chiefs and a deal will happen fast. Reid reportedly started telling assistant coaches about the plan to go to Kansas City.

Rapoport reports Reid has told Chiefs owner Clark Hunt that he's a package deal with former Cleveland Browns general manager Tom Heckert, according to a source with knowledge of Reid's pitch. Heckert is a former Philadelphia Eagles general manager who worked with Reid from 2001 to 2009.

This time of year stands as a great reminder that all this information comes from sources with their own agendas. But it appears the window to hire Reid will close quickly. The Cardinals aren't counting on him: They asked for permission to interview Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley.

The Chargers, meanwhile, could be motivated if they talk to Reid. Rapoport points out that former Packers general manager Ron Wolf has previously said that his biggest regret was not hiring Reid. Wolf is now consulting with the Chargers to help their coaching search

Meh, I'll believe it when he signs on the dotted line.

Just yesterday he was "95% going to be the Cardinals coach" lol.
