  • Around The League Today

I thought I'd start a new thread, which is meant for any commentary relative to the league, each and every game day. I believe that this can be an effective way to initiate short and sweet posts about any game going on, instead of creating a new thread for each separate game. Sort of a spot check of anything and everything as it happens. Hope this makes sense.

Anyway, my comments today so far include:

    - Geez it's snowing a lot around the league, especially in Philly. That's Canadian style football!! And growing up in that type of late season football weather you learn to play a different game. You have to think different. You learn to get good footing and focus on catching and holding onto the ball. And you learn to get those quick hitters, or soft lobs over unsteady defenders. This is not about rifling passes, or trying to make big dekes. This is about one play at a time.....and about catching defenders off guard. Os should actually benefit, because they know where they are going. Now......kicking is another story! Having said the above, those conditions were nasty!!!
    - Green Bay clearly misses their leader, and Flynn is no match for him. Imagine where GB would be right now with a healthy Rodgers. They'd win the division.
    - KC is getting revenge today!! Which means Washington is in deep trouble.
    - AP looks really hurt. It's an ankle, but not sure how bad.

I may get flamed for this and that's fine, but Josh Gordon is right with Calvin for the best wr in the league. He just burned Talib badly. I love DT but Gordon is a better player imo. He actually uses his size off the los to hit corners back and is just as fast at DT. He also does a much better job of high pointing the football in the air. If that guy wasn't one trip up away from a year suspension I would have ponied up that 2nd rounder for him.
Backing Moreno, Ayers, and Smith for 09.

Pack finally win. Hard to believe but they are still in the race.

Atlanta is in the race, but a different race altogether. Should be a nice pick whenever they select during the draft.

SF gets the job done over Seattle.......close game!

              Arizona is in the race.

Several real exciting finishes today, not that they all went the way I was hoping.

Big win for the Pats, but if Gronk is out for the year, it came at a cost.

He is out for the year. Denver's path to the SB gets easier by the week, but not of their doing. Only thing holding them back is Peyton Manning in the playoffs.

It sure did look like he blew his knee out I guess we will wait & see. New England is gonna lose another game before it's all said & done & Cinci will take the #2.

Meh, we got our own injuries to deal with.

I am not going to respond too seriously to your post, but you might consider taking your views to Smack.......perhaps you have, I don't frequent the place.

But as for Manning.....he looked pretty good in the cold today. In fact, he looked mighty good! I believe he's on a mission, to not only prove those people wrong about his cold weather/playoff status, but also to do something that not too many people accomplish......win 2 SBs as the starting QB, on two different teams. Hmmmm, can't think of who has done it. Time to google.

He was really on today......once again!

(I believe no starting QB has won 2 SBs on two different teams....Kurt Warner and Craig Morton came the closest it appears.)

                          It was the Titans.

Has nothing to do with the cold or even the playoffs. It has to do with Manning NE.

They gave up 8 passing TD's into todays game.

                              Their secondary is good.
