Coordinators don't build defenses. The Niners aren't great on defensive bc of their coordinator. They're great on defense bc of Willis, Bowman, and the rest of that front 7. The Seahawks aren't great on defense bc of whoever their coordinator is. It's because of Sherman, Wagner, Mebane, and those 4-5 DEs they have. It is and always will be and talent-driven league.

And if truth be told that niner's defense was built before even Harbaugh got their. They had a really good defense under Mike Singletary, they just couldn't score points.

These guys have so much experience playing against each other, only they know what it will take to build a defense to compete with those teams, because any Super Bowl winning team will be going through the NFC West!!
