Wow. Just Wow. I will try to reserve judgement until all the facts are out and he is given his day, but if this is true he could be gone for the rest of his life.

As a sexual assault and rape crisis counselor, and a woman, this just makes me so angry that it just never freaking stops. So tired and sick of it.

And some of the comments I read after the article were even worse. So many were asking, why would he need to rape when he is so good looking, has money and have access to lots of beautiful women?

Rape is about the need for power and control. It's about the need to humiliate and coerce. It's about the need to dominate. It is not about sexual gratification. I wish people would get this.

He'll throw money at it and it will disappear, he can always call Roethlisberger for tips.

The real Browns are in Baltimore, see?

Sadly, it's still such a huge taboo to talk about in society. It's about raising awareness.

Believe me, I understand this. We in the field are out there everyday trying to educate and raise awareness on this.

We have a huge job to do to break down all the myths out there that surround rape. The biggest one being the one I raised and the other being where the raped becomes the one responsible for their victimization instead of holding the perpetrator responsible. I'm sure you see a lot of victim blaming whenever a high profile rape case comes forward.

"Former NFL player Darren Sharper has been charged with drugging and raping two women in California and also is suspected of doing the same to other women in Arizona, Nevada and Louisiana, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney's office.

Sharper, once a star safety with the New Orleans Saints, is suspected of raping a total of seven women in four states, all after offering them shots laced with drugs, according to a Los Angeles police officer investigating the case." ...

              - Darren Sharper Accusations: 11 Druggings, 7 Alleged Rapes -

"...Sharper, 38, is accused of using Zolpidem (Ambien) and morphine to drug women and rape them. He was arrested on Jan. 17, and has been free on $200,000 bail since then. Sharper denies the charges, and claims to have had consensual sex with one of the women, and to be unaware of who another one is. The claims against him stem from five separately collected police reports, across four states, beginning in September of 2013, all of which describe similar events involving Sharper, women, and druggings.

Sharper has only been charged with a crime in Los Angeles, but faces accusations and open investigations in three other states. The document, a motion to increase Sharper's bail to $10 million (embedded below), offers a grim recounting of events, as recounted by the investigating officer. According to the document, these are the accusations that Sharper faces:" ...

7 alleged rapes along with 11 druggings is a heavy accusation. He's in big trouble if it's true.

                  - Darren Sharper investigated for eighth rape allegation -

" An eighth woman has come forward to accuse former NFL player Darren Sharper of rape, NBC Miami reports. It was also revealed that Sharper was the center of a rape investigation in 2011 before the case was closed.

Not so much. That's the thing about rapists, they can be anyone. That's what's so scary. They usually aren't the creepy guy hiding in the bushes.

It's been somewhat odd to me that this story has been basically mum on NFL Network or ESPN.

Unfortunately you're right I can understand why NFLN has been quiet about it the less they talk about it the less it looks like "hey we had a possible rapist employed at our network!"
I wonder why espn is quiet though

Hard to swallow for NFL Network. ESPN has no reason. They reported it once for about a minute and that was it.

If they convict on all these charges, plus the ones from the other states, he's looking at over 30 years they said in one paper. Me, I hope he gets life.

I can't wait to hear the defense on this case. I wonder how hard he tries to fight it. I wonder if he is delusional enough to try and say those were multiple 'misunderstandings'.
