Oh happy day. Couldn't have happened to a better piece of pond scum. Don't think I've ever despised another human being more. Well, maybe Ariel Castro, the Cleveland kidnapper.

- Darren Sharper likely to get 15-20 years under revised plea deal -
"Former Saints safety and convicted serial rapist Darren Sharper likely will spend 15-1/2 to 20 years in prison under terms of a new plea agreement unveiled Tuesday (March 22) in New Orleans' federal court. That's substantially higher than the nine years Sharper had first faced.
U.S. District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo last month rejected as inadequate that nine-year federal prison term in Sharper's initial global plea agreement with the U.S. government and four states. Milazzo accepted a new guilty plea from the former football star on Tuesday.
Under the new deal, Sharper will more closely conform with federal sentencing guidelines that recommend 188 to 235 months for the drug conspiracy and distribution violations to which he admitted guilt.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael McMahon, who read the supplemental plea agreement aloud while standing next to Sharper and defense attorney Billy Gibbens, said the government was making no specific recommendation of how much time Sharper should serve. ...
Milazzo accepted the new agreement, but warned Sharper the ultimate decision on the length of his sentence will be hers alone, and that it could fall somewhere outside the federal sentencing recommendations at her sole discretion." ...

- Darren Sharper reaches new plea agreement in rape case -
"Former NFL star Darren Sharper has reached a new plea agreement that could put him in prison for more than nine years and require him to testify against two co-defendants at an upcoming federal trial, according to court documents filed Wednesday.
The terms of the new plea agreement were not disclosed for Sharper, who is accused of raping nine women in four states. But after his previous plea agreement was rejected last month by a federal judge, he didn’t have much leverage for a better deal.
He could have withdrawn his guilty plea, facing trial and the possibility of 20 years in prison on federal rape and drug charges. Or he could try to reach a new plea agreement that might lead to longer punishment than the nine-year deal rejected last month by U.S. District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo.
The previous nine-year deal was an "inappropriate" and insufficient punishment for his crimes, Milazzo indicated then." ...

- Darren Sharper could be facing stiffer sentence in rape case
"Nine years in prison might not be enough for Darren Sharper.
After being accused of raping nine women in four states, the former NFL player last year agreed to resolve the allegations with a multi-state plea deal that included lifetime probation and nine years behind bars.
He even pleaded guilty or no contest to related charges in California, Nevada, Arizona and Louisiana.
But the deal was still subject to the approval of a federal judge, who has not signed off on it. Now the case is back on track for trial, though the reasons for it have not been specified.
"Recent developments have led to a resumption of plea negotiations and, prior to that, neither party expected Mr. Sharper to go to trial," attorneys for Sharper and the federal government stated in a joint court filing Wednesday. "The change in case posture, however, has now dictated that the defendant and the prosecution must now prepare for a more complex trial. This means that the government will, at this point, have to prepare over a dozen new witnesses from several other states to testify and, concomitantly, Mr. Sharper must prepare to defend against them."" ...
