    Compensatory Picks

This is complete nonsense. I don't understand it all.

The Broncos choked the Super Bowl... We ALL get that. but this is somewhat mind boggling.

Those picks are based on last year's off season. It does seem like the same teams always get some compensatory picks. Might be a team-building strategy. The 2015 draft will be when we get compensatory picks for losing players this offseason.

Teams that are hurting from the get go. Teams that struggle to even become contenders suffer from decisions like this.

Teams that cough up or lose big time players because of trade, retirement or FA shouldn't be rewarded with additional picks in the draft when small market teams struggle and try to keep up with the rest of the league.

        San Fran gets a third.

Who did they lose to justify that? Smith?

          I don't understand/get it.

It seems like these compensatory picks encourage a team to NOT bring back free agents that were on your team the prior year.

                Not sure the complaining.

We wont get a pick/picks for players lost until 2015.

You dont understand how the compensation picks work.

Some teams, namely Bal have it down to a tee which is why they get 3-4 every year.

It seems to reward teams that can't keep hold of their FA's. Its very strange.

I feel like it is in place for small market teams. It's something that the nba probably needs to do more so than the nfl, but it'd be harder with their draft

There's nothing strange about it. Some teams just aren't as attractive for players, and if they're going to lose their players to more attractive locations, there needs to be some sort of rule to try and keep the parity.
