This is a good pick up for Washington. I see him doing some great things with RG3. He will definitely give that offense a much needed boost imo. I don't know if he was or wasn't affiliated with a gang. But regardless I thoroughly believe this was leaked from Philly to justify cutting one of their best players and I see it as a very low thing to do. Going after his character through the back door in the public eye on the heals of Hernandez just seems classless and springerish to me. If that is how Chip Kelly does business, I hope he is not in this league for long. I noticed Andy Reid stood up for him. One way or the other I think it probably worked out very well for him and Washington. He got a nice chunk of $ while going to a team that wants him and they got a playmaker who will give that offense a very nice weapon to work with. I see the overall loser at this point as Philly, they let one of their best players go and got nothing in return.

Really great post. I completely agree with you. I believe that Philly tried to defame him and his character and I hope if the NFL PA's investigation into this finds "foul play" that they be heavily sanctioned. They really could have messed with his ability to get a job and that's not OK.

I don't know if it's true or not, but I don't think 'regardless' really applies. If he was actually in a gang, there would be nothing wrong with them leaking that, as it would be the truth.

Plus, they don't really have to justify cutting him. Players get cut all the time, and if they want to hurt their own team by cutting a great player for no reason, then they really only hurt themselves. We knew someone would pick him up, he got work in WAS, so it's not like they ruined his chances at playing.

I'm an Oregon Ducks fan and watched every game under Chip Kellys tenure while he was there. I've got family in Oregon and visit every year at least once.

          Something to ponder-

Desean Jackson does everything Chip Kelly wants out of a player on the field. He is infatuated with speed. On paper he's a perfect fit for the Kellys offense.

I've heard rumors the Eagles will take as much as a 6 million dollar cap hit for releasing Jackson. For a receiver coming off a career best year doesn't this whole situation beg the question of why when it's a seemingly perfect fit?

Gang ties or not (which I believe to be true), it appears Jackson is not a great locker room guy and that is why the Eagles took the unpoplular stance of releasing him.

I don't think there's a conspiracy here- you get what you get with Jackson- the good and the bad. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't this his draft report coming out of college as well?

You make some good points and i'll cp you for them. But I will also say they could have released him without backdooring him with leaks in the public. If they wanted to talk to other teams and warn them there are channels. I don't have a problem with the release if he didn't fit in for whatever reason, My problem and opinion is that there was no need to release stuff like this to the media. I don't know his personal life any more than anyone else who doesn't know him. But he has never been in trouble and I just don't think these rumours released to the media should have been. If you want to distance yourself okay, release him, the rest was imo not needed. What was the point of releasing it other than to damage him in the public eye. Some people will differ in opinion but I think it was unneeded and rather springerish to me.

Are they no longer rumors if they are true? From what I understand he's got a guy signed to his record label that shot and killed a 14 year old after he flashed them a rival gang sign- senseless actions by everyone involved.

I'm not in Philly but I know they are an opinionated fan base- remember when they booed Mcnabb on draft day? Anyway, Kelly was always very fair to his players and dealt with some rather tough instances (Blount KO, Kiko Alonso, Lyerla, etc).

Another thing- we don't know who if anyone "leaked" information. Don't put yourself in certain situations and conduct yourself like a professional and then you wouldn't have to worry about stuff like this.

So he signs an artist to a contract and that artist then does something stupid-----Tell me how this has anything to do with him doing something wrong. It doesnt. Again, I don't know, and I know that, but he certainly doesn't have a track record of getting in trouble and he has played for this team since 2008 so its not like he just came there and all of a sudden the locker room went to heck, in fact Reid stood up for him. I get you like Kelly, I also get that new coach has his own philosophies and wants his own guys who fit it. I don't blame any coach for that, If my but was on the line I'd do it my way too. Choosing to move on from Jackson for whatever reason is his choice and I don't blame him for that. But you can't convince me that after all his time in Philly it is just a coincidence that these rumors come out now when he is being released. I won't buy it. IMO this was leaked by the Philly organization when they cut him. You can argue that no one knows who released it, but it all falls back on the Head coach. I will agree to totally disagree with you. IMO regardless of what they thought about him, they could have just released him without all the rumors about character issues to the public. That was not necessary and was springerish

When you invest a significant amount of money in someone you should be very aware of the company they keep. I brought this point up because the shooter is a known gang member and it disputes the angle that Jackson has not been linked to any gang members. It's been verified and no longer a rumor. Also this guy tried to kill a 14 year old over something as stupid as a gang sign- a 14 year old! That's also a fact. From what I understand, his name also came up in another homicide investigation. Anyway you slice it, it's not good. Don't hang out with knuckleheads and you won't be associated with them.

I think you're making a lot of big assumptions regarding Kelly while ignoring Jacksons part in all of this. If you look at Kellys past track record with handling his players I think it speaks pretty loudly. Kiko Alonso probably owes Chip Kelly his NFL career because of how he treated him after being kicked off the team and sitting out a year. Heck, you can add Blount on that list as well (even though it was one of the great TV moments IMO)
