I'm sure the National media amplifies how good the catch was because he plays in New York. I heard that he'll get endorsement offers based on ONE CATCH in a regular season game. Rather silly.

I agree that the helmet catch was greater in that it sparked the biggest upset in NFL history. I also love the Brett Favre to Antonio Freeman TD that was grabbed of Freeman's back. Some luck involved in that one but still an amazing play that I still remember all these years later.

THREE FINGERS!!
They showed some video of him last night during pre-game warmups and he was one-handing passes like a boss!! This kid is special!
The ONLY reason I would put the Helmet Catch over this one is because it cost the Patsies another Superbowl win ... but in terms of pure catch awesomeness, the 3 finger Beckham catch is surely better!

He's been an average at best overall receiver throughout his career, except for in 2010 but if we're talking purely about who the best are at making amazing catches, I think Brandon Lloyd is one of if not the best at it.
They seem to be the only thing he does exceptionally well(though lately he seems to be a better deep threat than he's been), but he is one of the best in that area of the game.Last edited by fallforward3y+; 11-24-2014, 07:30 PM.

If you've ever played the game, you know how hard some catches are based on personal experience. I didn't mind higher passes that you might have to jump for, mind you I never reached upward and back, to catch a long pass with just a few fingers, and come down with the ball. Sometimes the hardest catches were those low ones in the cold, that you had to reach down for, the shoe string type. Other great catches are those that you catch over the wrong shoulder, at a high speed. And then there's those diving receptions, where you have to reach for the ball, and somehow secure it before hitting the hard ground. And I still remember what my fingers felt like when one of those gunslinger types would fire one at you, about 10 yards away. The ball was a blur, the fingers sometimes bent in the wrong direction. Not great catches visually, but to me they were!
I am sure there have been better than the Beckham catch, but it was a truly "GREAT" reception!!
I personally would say wrong shoulder catches are among the toughest that I've attempted, I actually like the low ones. Those bullets can be tough, although I usually catch with my palms so I didn't feel it in my fingers. The wrong shoulder catches don't look as difficult, but they are...it's why I think it's silly to blame Welker for the drop in the SB of the 2011 season(of course, few other than Brady fanatics act like it was an easy catch, lol)
I would say the toughest catches to make are the sideline ones, because of having to get the feet down in a narrow window, no team I've ever played for has ever even attempted one of those. The Beckham catch though, was very good. If your up in the air or falling to the ground, and able to focus on other tasks like making a catch and do well, it's impressive enough..but that far backward is even tougher.

What makes it so impressive is that it was a clean one handed catch. I've never seen anyone legitly catch the ball with just one hand. Generally one handed catches are brought under control by having it pinned against the body. Beckham caught and had full control until he brought it to his body when it came loose for a second

Greatest catch ever does seem like a lot, but it may be. I don't think I can honestly speak for all time to tell you the truth, but since I've been watching football(2005)I don't think I've seen a better one. A lot of guys have often make amazing catches, Brandon Lloyd, Reggie Wayne, Larry Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson, Vincent Jackson etc. but as far as the best single catch...I don't remember one quite like that.
