BREAKING NEWS: This just in. Tom Brady has been suspended for his 4 games. Court rules in favor of the NFL.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's four-game suspension from the Deflategate scandal has been upheld by a U.S. appeals court ruling Monday.

"We hold that the Commissioner properly exercised his broad discretion under the collective bargaining agreement and that his procedural rulings were properly grounded in that agreement and did not deprive Brady of fundamental fairness," the U.S. 2nd Circuit Appeals Court wrote in its ruling.

Brady is slated to miss games against the Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills. He would be eligible to make his regular-season debut in Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns.

Nice! It would have been better if those first four matchups were a little tougher for NE, but Miami and Houston have the type of pass rushers to give Jimmy G fits. I still think they will go 2-2 without Brady.

      Cardinals aren't a gimme either.

Agreed. I liked AZ in that game before Brady's suspension, but I'd almost consider that game a lock for them without him. Miami always plays NE pretty tough and I think that is their second loss. Houston never fares well against them, but who knows this time.

This is so dumb. I just want this story to end and for the NFL stop wasting tax payer money on crap like this.

            1) OK Mr Kraft......you accepting the punishment now???

            2) Yes, the asterisks are bolded again, and there are so many, I have to go to the store to buy some more.

            3) It almost seems like The NFL has a way of always being newsworthy.....to keep those ratings up.

Didn't the Patriots and Brady sue the league first?

Though it pains me to say it, I think Goodell was well within his rights as commish to challenge the lower courts ruling that he did not act within the authority of his office. If it was upheld, what else could anybody challenge in the NFL, NFLPA, et al, and tie up courts with more frivolous suits?

As far as the tax payer money, court proceedings are not free. But certainly a lot of time was wasted needlessly on this.

Besides, the lawsuit was a bigger issue than the NFL. By disallowing Goodell to act within his rights in the position he holds within the league (think corporation) I can't imagine what precedence could have been set with other companies and their disciplinary actions with employees. The question was never so much about whether Brady did or did not do something but whether Goodell could suspend him the way he did.

Anyway, it'll be the headline going in to the season, no question.

Honestly...The cards will beat them. The Dolphins are a division rival and will play them tough, I see New England at best opening the season 1-3 and I couldn't be happier!

                  Two things....

                  1) Does Tom go into this season with the same chip on his shoulder, a partial chip for being let off the hook but then getting suspended again.....a brand new chip??? Pretty soon his shoulder will be too sore from all the chips!

                  2) Interestingly, the talk is that The Pats will need another QB as a backup. Could be the same pool as we've been associated with, other than Kaep, Fitz or any other starter type. Perhaps even a draft pick that we may be looking at, however I doubt they will want to part with an early pick, given they don't start til round two.

Just heard on Boston sports radio that Brady is appealing because the top judge was the dissenting judge. Get ready for another battle folks.

I don't know about #2 but for #1 the 2016 season might become "Tom Brady's Probation Tour".

You do realize that Brady initiated judicial interference, right?

Do any of you compare Belichick with the Director in The Truman Show? Always about control and ratings!!!!

Brady only sued because of the absurd punishment to begin with. 4 games for deflating footballs? Give me a break. I know as a bronco fan in a bronco forum I will be in the minority. But this whole story is stupid. Every team/player tries to get a competitive advantage. Suspending a guy for a quarter of a season for using the equivalent of stickem for a wide receiver is dumb.

If Brady was punished justly to begin with it never would have made it to court. Gooddell is a goon. He bent over to public pressure because of who the accused was.

Nah, this is over. The only place Brady/NE could appeal to now is to the Supreme Court of the United States, and it seems VERY unlikely to me that the SCOTUS would find a reason to take up this appeal (they get to choose which appeals they hear). They could try to appeal but I highly doubt it would go anywhere, and even if they DID appeal there is no way it would be heard before the start of the season.
