Can't believe all of this ridiculous talk about NE resting their guys and, especially, tanking games.

No offense, but what world are you guys living on? Tanking DOES NOT HAPPEN in the NFL (just ask the Browns) and the concept of leaving out a team intentionally by giving up home field advantage through an intentional loss is ludicrous.

New England wants that #1 seed and they are not going to take any chances with it. Even though Oakland is starting a backup quarterback, they can still win that game - it's not outside the realm of possibility, heck it wouldn't even be surprising considering all the crazy things that happen not just during an NFL season, but WEEKLY.

Look back at the 2009 Patriots seasons in Week 17 when they played the Giants. Neither team had anything to play for but both played their starters and had what was the best game of the regular season (and ultimately a preview of the Super Bowl).

New England will play their starters against Miami next week and Belichek will be doing everything he can to win and lock up that #1 seed - thinking otherwise is insane and conspiracy theory type stuff.

MIA has a backup QB and now their RB is hurt.... NE didn't "rest" their guys last year, they just had a crappy OL and no RB so they went vanilla.

Even If Brady sits, Jimmy G gives them a chance. Knowing they have a BYE coming and knowing he has a real shot to win another SB, BILL will use this game to keep his team sharp.

Bill doesn't fear going to oAk if necessary but he also doesn't fear dEn coming to NE.... I bet he would enjoy ending MIA's season next week tho.
I mean New England will intentionally lose to Miami. Belichick did it last year so Denver would play Pittsburgh instead of his team. They fear Denver more than anyone but Pittsburgh.

they don't have any reason to fear us this year. Let's be real here.

NE didn't let MIA win last year.... they had no running game and their OL
Couldn't block. Ergo, they decided not to pass the ball at all to protect Brady.

MIA still barely won the game. This year is different. MIA has a backup QB and an injured RB and now they face a top 10 defense.

NE doesn't care, and if they "fear" PIT then they will do everything possible to beat MIA bc NE knows Denver has the better chance to win in PIT WC weekend.

So, why would they manipulate things last war bc of Pit but not this season?

Honestly, I won't count us out until we're out. Do we have some major issues? Yes, but if we win out, and we're going in hott........... I don't think anyone can stop us if we're firing on all cylinders. But if we show up like we did the last 2 weeks, then the party is over.

Yup. BB usually doesn't rest players and NE hasn't locked up HFA just yet. They will beat MIA next week to make sure.

Brady hasn't won a road playoff game since 2006. They will make sure he doesn't have to.

What exactly is your definition of tanking? Because if you think NFL teams do not make decisions that decrease the chance they win...specially late in the season to get ready for the playoffs...then you do not know the NFL.

May not like exactly how the word was used but teams do things that one could call tanking depending on ones point of view, choice of words and how to make a point.

BB has rested Gronk before when he was healthy...2014 season iirc

They have also rested players who could play to not further injure them and/or give a injury they playing with an additional week to heal.

OK, let me clarify what I was trying to say. NE is not going to intentionally lose to MIA as some have suggested so they can knock us out of the playoffs. NE doesn't have the #1 seed locked up so they will have to play to win next week.

NE is usually not in the habit of sitting a bunch of starters in regular season games to get ready for the playoffs. They may rest a few guys here and there who may have been dealing with injuries but not as a general rule.

Also, don't know if folks saw Brady's presser yesterday, they will be going full boar against MIA next week. They are not going to let up until the game is at hand like they did against the Jets. Only when the game was in hand did they let Jimmy G and others come in and play.

Hope Carr and Mariota heal quickly. Never good to see players get injured like that.
