Demarcus Ware Retires a Cowboy

This is not a betrayal. I see this type of move as disrespectful to the fans of Denver. Salary cap hell or not if a player is that important to your organization then you keep them and move on from other guys. When you move on to a different organization and win a Super Bowl - something your original team could never accomplish in your 9 seasons there then I think it is fair to question this decision by Ware. Your original team clearly never felt they owed you anything and thus why do you feel the need to retire there with a 1 day contract?

I think my opinion of this situation would be VERY different if Ware had asked to be traded or asked to not be given an offer so he could move to a contender. Then it would show that even if he truly liked and respected the organization he simply wanted to come to Denver to win and then retire....that is NOT what happened here.



It may very well have pissed off Colts fans but their real anger should have been directed towards ownership who kicked their star player to the curb and never kept him. What Peyton did was simply put - classy. He won a ring here and set a ton of records here and as a result had a separate part of his historical career here in Denver. The team showed its true colors when they opted to move on with Luck and not Peyton and that is fine. Football is a sport but it is also a business. IMO - Peyton and what he did for those who are truly fans respect and admire what he did. Thus IMO- he has maintained his brands integrity and overall brand-base in both cities. I am not sure Ware has done the same here in Denver.

Some of yall take things a whole new level when it comes to football.Ware played three years in Denver and some of yall act like he played half or most of his career in Denver when it's the other way around.

It's not disrespectful what he did,hell every Bronco fan should of expected it,because that was the team he played for most of his career and they decided not to re-sign him due to cap space.There is nothing wrong signing a one day deal to the team that drafted you.

And,I wish people stop comparing Manning's situation to Ware's because I'm going to assume he was disappointed the Cowboys let him go,but he understood their situation and wasn't bitter about it,While,Manning was bitter about an organization that forced him out of it while the owner throwing little subliminal shots at him in the media.Even,if Irsay and Manning sit down and talk about the situation and later down the line Irsay ask Manning do he want to retire as a Colt and Manning accepts I won't even have a problem with that,because he will always be a Colt just like Ware will always be a Cowboy.

What will be disrespectful will be,if Chris Harris went to another team and never retired as a Broncos,the same goes with DT and Von.Now that will be disrespectful to the fans of Denver.Not Ware retired as a Cowboys....

Yeah DWare is a fundementally good person and a class act, not a disrespectful person at all, and the Broncos org has nothing but goodwill for him and understanding. He will even be honored at the Denver/Dallas game. Most of the fans understand too, but some want to be bitter and fault him, and that's their choice -it's a free country.

If anything I think the gesture is a sign of mutual respect between the Cowboys organization and Ware. There was a long standing relationship both had built over a long time where Ware was not only an integral part of the team but also very involved in the community for 8 years - business issues aside - that obviously counted for something, enough that the Cowboys offered him to retire in his original team colors and that he accepted.

I don't see this having to do anything with the Broncos organization or its fans. As it is also just a ceremonial gesture, it's purely between the Cowboys and Ware. This does not diminish anything Ware did or was with the Broncos one bit in my eyes. He was always a team first leader on the field and in the LR and never once showed his loyalties to be anything less, much like Manning, regardless of his team.

They will both be Hall of Famers. The football Hall of Fame is not the same as the baseball Hall of Fame. Manning will go into the Hall of Fame as Peyton Manning, not as an Indianapolis Colt. Ware will go in as DeMarcus Ware, not as a Dallas Cowboy.

It doesn't matter that Ware wanted to commemorate his time as a Cowboy, that's how most fans will remember his career. His time as a Bronco will be an after thought.

As for Ware, nothing but respect for him. He was a great Cowboy and Bronco. Don't blame him and I thank him for all he did for this team. Would love to have him back on the team and in the locker room in some sort of coaching position if he was interested. I think he would do well.

He's articulate, has good rapport with players, and I would love to see him become a position coach! He might be really good at that!

Everything that needs to be said about this has already been said.

But in all honesty, I just want Ware to be happy. He came to Denver and gave us 3 great seasons before winning a ring. But in fairness he never asked to be cut by Dallas. The team that drafted him into the league and gave him a career has his respect and his heart. I have no doubt his second favorite team is Denver. I am okay with that.

NOBODY SHOULD BE OFFENDED. He didn't retire from Dallas for sentimental reasons. This is all business. Anytime a player retires from the previous team, that's the reason. Not because it's a warm n fuzzy thing to do. There's more money in it for the player and team. Here's just one example: jersey sales. I personally won't buy a jersey of someone that didn't end their career in Denver. I guarantee I'm not alone. Ware is admired by more Dallas fans than Denver fans, who are more likely to spend money on Ware merchandise, appearences, products endorsed by him etc than Denver fans. Peyton would have done it too if Indy didn't diss him the way they did

Because there was no acrimony nor bitterness between Ware and the Cowboys as there was between PM and Irsay in Indy. The Cowboys simply couldn't afford to keep Ware, they were in salary cap hell that year.

Ware is following in the footsteps of a ton of other players who chose to retire with the team with which they played the most. A ton!

Ware was drafted by the Cowboys and played nine seasons for them in his prime, giving his best years and best overall performance there, so this is no surprise nor should it be perceived as some sort of betrayal.
