  • Interesting Developments....Including AP Looking To Sign In New Orleans

Based on reports from various sources including NFL.com, AP is closing in on signing with The Saints. Salary of $3M (or more), making him the 2nd highest paid RB in NO, behind Mark Ingram. Is it the right fit? Not sure. But if The Saints can draft well, add a little more D, who knows? I do not see them making a big jump in the standings, unless everything clicks, and a lot of it has to do with D. Lets be honest, scoring points has not been a big problem.

    Other developments that interest me:

    - Still in NO, it appears they and Malcolm Butler have a contract in mind, but there is no deal on the table between them and The Pats. If it did take place, The Saints' D would be a little closer to where it needs to be.
    - Where if anywhere does Cutler end up? Seems like his calling card is not that welcome, although injuries will likely enhance his possibilities.
    - Not a big point of interest to me, but what becomes of Oz?? Does he surprise and actually earn some air time?? Of course, what becomes of the QB position in Cleveland? If they only had that piece in place, with the draft picks they own, this is a team that may finally be on the up and up.
    - In tandem with all these QB questions, what does Elway do to fortify the QB group we have? Draft? Other?
    - Is Lynch a Raider? I think he will be, but it is not over yet.

    More questions to come....

Lynch is a physical away from becoming a Raider. Oakland is going to be very, very tough this year, if he is even close to what he was.If they bolster their D slightly, I have to give them the division. Carr is fast becoming a really good young QB, Mack is an elite defender, and they have weapons. We are going to have to up our game to challenge them, and yes, even KC.

AP and Lynch will make headlines now but in reality their impacts will be minimal IMO.

I was a big AP fan but he looks done. He doesn't have that quick burst anymore and has logged around 2500 carries in his career so its no surprise that injuries are becoming more regular with him. It was telling that his market interest was so low.

ML is a similar story. He has taken a pounding over the years due to his physical style of running and looked poor in 2015 (getting 3.8 ypc) and was out of football in 2016, plus he just turned 31. I can't see him doing much this season and is a clear downgrade from L Murray who chose to sign with the Vikings.

The rumor is that the Raiders no longer have an interest in a RB in this draft due to the ML signing, that is a huge mistake IMO. This draft has some really talented backs and trusting an over the hill back, with so little behind him, is borderline crazy.

I think you'll see a drop with KC. I think the division will probably be won by the Raiders, 2nd Broncos, 3rd KC and Chargers in the basement again.

Marshawn played nine years as a RB in the NFL which is already above average at that position. He is 31 years old. A year away from football may have rejuvenated him, but getting back in football shape without injury can be a trick. Oakland has a FB, big TEs and a good O-Line. In the event he becomes a Raider, they may get some production from him. The question will be how much gas is in his tank and how much tread is left on the tires.

Raiders are the favorite in AFCW. Denver needs to up their game in all three phases.

The Raiders have a terrific OL. Surely they should be selecting someone like Cook, Mixon, etc....... to run behind it rather then banking on a 31 yo who has missed a year of football.

Mixon or Cook behind that line would be scary.

Mayock gave them Cam Robinson in his mock draft tonight....adding yet another Oliner to their group. I think they should go D, but I believe Mayock knows a thing or two more than I!!!!

              BTW....he gave us Ramczyk......not surprising.
