  • Is Jay Heading Back To Football??

Miami is in a bit of a bad situation with Tannehill....possibly to lose him for the entire season. Initial talks with Jay Cutler are being held, and so far neither has backed away. I find this one interesting, and if he signs, I will be pulling for him a wee bit, especially against The Pats. I was ticked at him for the way he left us, but now that he is gone from Chicago, I am open to his new pursuits.

I know, some here will never forgive him, but for me, Miami needs help, and I want someone to kick The Pats.....so why not let it be Jay (or anyone for that matter!). I actually don't mind the guy.

From what I've read (which isn't much ), he's having a hard time leaving his family. There's a fair bit of travelling involved working in a broadcast booth as well, but the daily routine is no doubt a lot different to a starting quarterback. I don't know how he lives but his diet could look a lot different from what it used to be, so could his exercise and so on.

Maybe his family just isn't ready or willing to go back to that, not to mention the concern over CTE given his history.

If he hasn't been keeping up in terms of exercise/diet, it may be too tough to even make the move. I can see how on one hand the thrill of playing, the money, the comradery, etc. could lure some folks back, but if your family says "please don't", and you have landed a pretty decent job that could lead to a long and enjoyable career.....time to hang 'em up for good.

Dolphins agree to one-year, $10M deal with QB Jay Cutler

The Miami Dolphins and former Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler agreed to a one-year deal on Sunday, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The one-year deal is worth $10 million, plus incentives, a source told Schefter.

In May, Cutler had retired from the NFL and was hired by Fox Sports as a game analyst.

Dolphins coach Adam Gase has played a significant role in convincing Cutler of the reasons he should play for the Dolphins, sources told ESPN's Jeff Darlington. Miami also raised its monetary offer, sources close to the situation said.
As of Saturday, Cutler was reluctant about a possible return to football, although he hadn't made any decision with certainty. Aware of his reluctance, but after a day of no direct communication with Cutler, Gase was eventually able to talk to him.

The Dolphins targeted Cutler because of the likelihood that starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill will undergo surgery to repair stretched ligaments in his left knee.

Cutler, 34, started 15 games in 2015 with Gase as his offensive coordinator, throwing for 3,659 yards with 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He completed 64.4 percent of his passes.
Wouldn't it be hilarious if Cutler miraculously made life tough for Tom Brady in the AFC East.. one can dream, right?

That is a very good fit for him imo, got a some weapons around him and a coach who knows how to utilize him. If he can stay healthy, both he and Miami just got a lot better together.

Have know idea what Tannehill was thinking though

            WOW....didn't take long did it?!

In all honesty I have turned a new leaf on this dude. I will pull for him, because I kinda like Miami, ESPECIALLY against The Pats. Ajayi is clicking and Jay can throw darts. My grudge is basically over. He was a "bit" foolish back then, but there is another side to that story. Moving on.....

              You and me both.

I don't really understand the hatred. So it wasn't pretty and he said some things, did some things.. whatever? It's not like he said "screw you, I'm gonna go play for the Raiders or Chiefs". I hope the Dolphins knock the living daylights out of Patriots for a change. Give them some healthy in-division competition.

As a New Yorker, I can't wait to hear Jets fans talk about this one. Their QBs suuuuuuuck,

Dolphins won't make the playoffs because the Wild Cards are coming out of the West or North.

I have always been a fan of Cutler's. I hope he does well for the Dolphins, especially when playing the Pats*. I really thought he would stick to the broadcast career. Wonder what kind of shape he is in? I will root for the Dolphins in 15 games this season ... that will be different.

The question now is can he beat out Matt Moore?

He already did that by signing the contract.

                          That's a solid N O !

I have vivid memories of one season where I drafted him as my primary quarterback. I don't remember the year but it was when he set the record for most sacks in a game (9 iirc). It was brutal to watch.

Great for JC, I'm excited to see what he can do. I expect much of the same but who knows... maybe the mental break will do wonders for him.

I think that is why Cutler's signing is of interest. Many hope for intra division competition for the Pats*.
