Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

There's a way the other 31 teams do things and there's the way the Raiders do things! It's such a reckless, desperate gamble, but I guess that's what happens when you haven't won a SB for 35 years.
Hey pal....seriously, how do you feel about Gruden returning? I would hazard a guess that you are a little excited about it. Given your situation, I would be.
Excited for the splash and I'm all in. (yeeeah Vegas!) It's a clever way to dangle the keys in front of the Bay Area babies as they creep out the back door. I'm not expecting much at this very moment.
One big move that they're making is hiring an Executive Vice President of Football Operations, which gives Reggie McKenzie more time to focus on only GM duties. Now will Reggie work with Gruden for the long term? I think so, they did in Green Bay to a different extent, but we'll see.
The main concern I have about Gruden is the coaching staff around him. If he builds a good one and they help get him back to speed, then it could be successful. Or it could be closer to 2006 when they rehired Art Shell, who ran the team like it was 1989. He hired an offensive coordinator who was running a bed and breakfast before returning to work for Shell. I don't think Gruden's playbook will be archaic but he'll definitely need a year to get it current. I'll expect plenty of Spider Y 2 Banana or whatever that play is lol.
Time will tell with Gruden. I thought last season Carr had a fantastic year and masked alot of holes on that roster, this year they came back to where their talent level is.
If you look at the roster there are many holes and not much top end talent. It was no surprise to me that they struggled this year.
The strange one year after year is the Chargers. They have a good QB and talent on both sides of the ball but always find ways to lose games they shouldn't.

They also had a lot of bounces go their way last year, which they didn't get this year. Things like going for 2 to win a game only works once

Got ya. And to be honest I'd be ok if he had signed here instead.....but not for 10 years.
It will be interesting to see if he not only kept up to date with the game in his tv job, but more important, that he can transition his game into the new world of football. Sometimes we fall back to who we were. That's when the magic disappears.....and quickly. But yes, his coaching staff will be a big factor in his success, or lack thereof.
My gut tells me he will have an immediate impact. The question is, "how big?" But I also feel like he will lose steam way before the 10 years are up, and possibly get drained within 2-3 years. Comebacks are harder than folks think, especially for older folks. We must remember that he had a pretty cushy job these last years, in comparison to the labour involved in being an NFL HC. Not that he was inactive by any means, but now the responsibility is largely back on his shoulders, and he is without a doubt, older.
But as I mentioned above, his return may at least initially be detrimental to a Broncos rebound. If he can get The Raiders back to their ways in 2016, and add something to the mix, they could win the Division.
Over his 7 years with TB Gruden had a record of 57-55. Including his time with the Raiders his winning percentage was still lower than Wade's was as head coach.

Yep they won an insane number of 1 score games (either 8 or 9) in 2016 and had to lead the league in turnover differential to do it. Those things are tough to replicate from year to year.
It looks UNofficial right now because it is. The Raiders are "planning" to offer a 10-year, $100 million contract, interview him Monday, and announce the hiring Tuesday. The only thing that is official is they complied with the Rooney Rule.
Frey, how does that even happen? Is there a story cause it almost, dare i say it, looks intentional.
Anyone else view andy reid as being in the john fox mold? Minus the 2 rings of course
Nah, Fox isn't one of those "see how smart I am guys". He's a smash mouth 3 yards and a pile of dust, close to the vest, "we'll win field position" type HC. Andy is very cerebral. He has to always show you his football IQ.
kinda wonder what all he's picked up on all the different teams and players working as an announcer .... I truly do enjoy Gruden as an announcer, but wasn't overly impressed at him as a coach ... he took the team Dungy put together to the SB, but didn't do much after that with the Bucs that I remember ....
I am glad that we didn't sign him for 10 years, 100 million. I think he might give us some healthy competition in the west division for years to come with Carr at QB, but that's good for us.
Now we need to build a powerful team from top to bottom to compete.
