So all the guys who were supposed to get fired are out of the way. Only thing I didn't see coming so far was Koetter. Thought he was a goner.

What's Cincinnati going to Do? I don't think they have any coaches under contract lol. I heard Gunther may join Gruden in Oakland. Mike Brown has issues.

Wasn't Vance Joseph also supposed to be fired? There were reports it could happen, even if John Elway had no plans to punt him after only one season.

The Dirk Keotter decision seemed to surprise a lot of people.

Marvin Lewis was a lame duck, but that does not mean his assistants were. Paul Geuther is still under contract with the Bengals and may get a promotion to succeed Lewis.

Eh. I don't think it was as obvious as the other guys. From a lot of our fans' perspectives, yeah, but not when you step away from it. The Raiders regressed after high expectations going into the season. Del Rio is a defensive coach, they have one of the two or three best defensive players in the league, and still haven't been able to play any defense. Then the Gruden thing. Fox was a lame duck going into the season. They almost fired Pagano last year, so that was no surprise. The Lions had a golden opportunity this year, and same old story, losing right at the end of the season. Lewis is so far past the point of whether or not to fire the guy, I don't think anyone cares anymore.

As soon as Cleveland fired Brown, I figured Jackson would stay. I respect the Browns for sticking with him. He's a great qb's coach and coordinator, but I'm not convinced he can be a good head coach. Still respect the decision, though.

Your logic about JDR's dismissal is badly flawed. It was all about the offense struggling, not the defense. Derek Carr carried Oakland to a playoff spot and the team was essentially one play away from winning the AFC West. It was not what everyone expected - a continuation of last year's success before Donald Penn gave up a sack, with an upgrade at RB with Oakland native Marshawn Lynch, etc. The reason obviously is JDR decided to let Bill Musgrave leave and promote Todd Downing despite finishing with the NFL's #6 offense. He did fire DC Ken Norton in the middle of the season.

Nobody is questioning whether Marvin Lewis deserves a 16th seaosn or not/ For him it is a matter of deciding wherther her wants to continue coaching in Cincinnati, be promoted to a front office job there, or tryv to get another coaching job elsewhere. If he and Mike Brown agree to part ways, other teams are going to come after him.

It would fun to see Patricia and McDaniels get HC jobs, and leave Billy B and The Pats behind.

Bill Belicheat had no problem winning without Josh McDaniels. :brick:

Ted Thompson is changing roles in Green Bay. Eliot Wolf is a favorite for the GM job.

On a New Year's Day full of coaching changes but short on surprises, the Packers have now provided the biggest bombshell. Ted Thompson is expected to transition into a new role in the organization.

So what are you arguing, exactly? That you don't think Del Rio's firing was obvious, or the fact that you don't think Jon Gruden's candidacy or Del Rio overseeing a bad defense for 3 years had anything to do with it?

Except for the fact that they've won before those guys and will most likely continue to win without those guys as long as Belichick is HC.

Belichick's assistant's don't make the Patriots...Belichick is what makes the Patriots. His assistants all show to be hot garbage away from Belichick and the Patriots.

O'Brien is the only assistant that's halfway decent away from Belichcik and the Patriots but even a broke clock is right twice a day so eventually one of their assistants was bound to show some success away from Bill and the Pats.
