  • The 2018 NFL Playoffs

    It appears that the home teams are all expected to win this weekend. Not a surprise. But I expect at least one upset. Now who could that be?

    So we have The Titans at KC....sure KC should be favoured. But KC better look more like the good team vs the one that struggled near the end of the season. My take is this, if KC does not get a reasonable lead, this one will become a toss up.

    Atlanta at LA (Rams) should be fun! I expect LA to be alive and kicking hard. Atlanta can look back and consider how they got in with a key win, and the fact they "should" have won last year's trophy. But they re still not the O team of last year, and LA has so much youth, energy and talent. If Atlanta has a slow start, this one could actually get lopsided.

    Buffalo at Jacksonville would be interesting.....if McCoy is healthy. The Jax need to prove to us all that they are legit, and that might be proven with an easy win. At least Buffalo has to be motivated by even making the playoffs. But they need McCoy, and more.

    Then the big one....Carolina at New Orleans. I think this one could be close. Carolina has a lot of talent and experience. But I suspect Brees and company will make some noise on Sunday, and showcase a team that finally has more than an O to guide its course. I'm taking NO....but again, this one could be close if Newton has a better day, and The Panthers' D cause some TOs.

    ~~~~~~~~
    In the bigger picture.....again I plead, someone has to knock off The Pats, and soon!! If I was a betting person, I'd lay down some cash on this team (like 'em or not). I just don't trust The Steelers on the road, and I am not sure anyone else has enough to compete in Foxborough.
    No, hate to say it, but my only "logical" hope is that they get beaten in The SB.....which is the more likely of all scenarios, given the talent in The NFC. But hey, The Pats would be favoured no matter who ends up representing that conference. But yes, teams like LA, Minnesota, New Orleans and maybe Philly (who are not nearly as good minus Wentz), have a shot at the crown.
    Again, I sure hope The Pats get knocked off sooner than later, because they will be a load if they get on a playoff roll. OK....a new Year's wish.....
    Anyone but The Pats in The SB will make the season much better for me.....:thumb:
    BUFF could pull the upset. I'm pulling for a BUFF/MINN SB, with MINN winning. Of the 12 teams in the playoffs, 8 are looking for their first SB win
      Minnie is a nice pick, although it's going to be interesting. But they are looking good for the long term, with a excellent play on both sides of the ball, a talented QB pool, and the fact that Dalvin Cook will be back next year!
        Who do the Jaguars need to prove their legitimacy to? Nobody who knows the name Sacksonville and the phrase, "Defense dwins championships."
          That is an interesting statistic. Has this ever happened before in the 12-team format?
          One playoff team, the Jaguars, never even got there. :brick:
            OK....prove to me then. They appear to be a good team but you are only as good as your playoff record. Lets see.
            And if we are to get a little technical, what's "dwins"?
              I have a smack thread about this game in case some people have real doubts about Sacksonville.
              You caught a typo I failed to correct.
                And no one ever makes any typos. I also love auto correct.
                I'm kind of pulling for the Pats. It would make hubby and daughter happy. But I'd really like to see Atlanta win the SB.
                    2007 Bucs, Steelers, and Colts all fielded very strong defenses (4.6 Y/P – same as the 2017 Jags), and all three lost their first playoff game. 2003 Ravens posted a monster 4.2 Y/P and lost in the wild card round to the Titans at home.
                        I have some doubts, like I do with any team that does well in the regular season but has not been a contender. It's all about experience and ability to survive, when the game is at its highest level.
                        I am pulling for them. Just some doubts.
                        FTR....I would not have mentioned the typo, but I felt you were a little "assertive" with your response to my post. So I kinda got a little "assertive/picky" too. That's the way this old dude rolls.
                        So....what's your thread say?
                            Exactly Gman! It's all beautiful until the big lights hit the stage, and the pressure rises to a whole new level. Some will prove themselves, and some will need to come back another time.
                            Nothing is certain. I will add to that.....some things are closer to certain than others, and in this case I would give the nod to teams and players who have been through the drill. But as for regular season stats for a team that is relatively new to the center stage.....some stats can be thrown out the window.
