Very interesting , I thought Mularkey was good after the win and yes this is poor timing imo unless titans have their own version of Gruden up their sleeve imo

They were planning on giving him the extension until he wasn't going to fire some of his coaches. They felt he was therefore not on the same page and thus, they mutually agreed to part ways.

Strunk stated that "we did discuss extending [Mularkey's] future with our team over the past week, but in those discussions about the direction of the team, it became evident that we saw different paths to achieve greater success."

Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk was saying she and Mike Mularkey could not come to an agreement on how to move forward with taking the team to the next level. This article does not mention a contract negotiation - just that if they had agreed on the team's directoin, Mularkey would have received an extension.

Have you seen anything about the contract itself being an issue on real news sources such as ESPN that only use professoinal analysts to report stories about NFL teams? If not, don't believwe a single word of it.

I hate the hire. He's had just 3 years of NFL coaching as a position coach and 1 year as a DC of a team who's defense ended up being much much worse this year than in the last few years. He's a really shaky hire to me.
