  • Marcus Williams

I still feel it for young Marcus Williams, the poor fella who made that terrible play, to allow Diggs to score a TD with no time on the clock.

I am glad he is getting some luv, because I am quite confident that was not how he wanted it to go. I read the words, "do not let that define you", nor should it. It takes a team to win and lose, and had things been different, all we know is that Williams had 4 pics during the season and made a key interception earlier in the game. But hey, too bad someone did not sack Keenum on that last play, or pressure him more than they did. Perhaps someone else could have rescued him, by making a key tackle. Of course, that's not expected...The Safety is usually the last line of D.

And here's another view...what if Williams gets there too quick and draws a penalty. FG time! Or if he knocked him to the ground, but just out of bounds. Again, FG time.

I am not defending the play...it was horrible, and it ultimately knocked his team out of the playoffs. But one man, one person is not a team. And we all make mistakes....except some mistakes are for all the world to see.

Get up young man. Wipe your hands off and keep on moving forward. You deserve a better day.

All he had to do was let Diggs catch the ball and then tackle him.

Even if Diggs was too strong to tackle by himself, a teammate was close by to help.

But, yes, it’s one mistake from which he can learn and have better days in the future, except when he plays the Broncos.

Mr. Williams got paid $3.1-Million dollars this year and ended up looking like a fool on national television.

It should be dealt with Old School.

I’m torn on this Can. At the end of the day it’s just a game that doesn’t impact any of the fans lives. Unless someone bet their home on the Saints in which case they have problems anyway.

He definitely deserves to be cut slack in social media and that mistake was not the only thing that cost them the game. It was just that. A mistake in a big moment.

On the other hand like Rancid just mentioned he makes $3.1 million dollars. There is a reason they don’t pay people like us to go make easy tackles to win a game. And a reason why he gets paid as much as he does. I would imagine that if I made that kind of a mistake at my job that had direct negative impacts on my company I would most likely be fired on the spot.

I truly feel sorry for the kid because he isn’t going to live this down for a long time. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t remain a Saint long term and has to reset elsewhere.
If you’ll recall that Tight end was let go by the Packers after his gaffe on the onside kick cost them the NFC title game. And Rahim Moore didn’t stick around her long after his Hail Mary gaffe.

Fans have to remember to not be hypocrites because none of us are perfect. But Williams still deserves repercussions for that mistake in my opinion.

Immediately reminded me of Rahim Moore except this definitively lost his team the game. But he’s a good player, he should bounce back better than Moore did.

Good points DB. I will only comment on the bolded point.....if you made an equivalent mistake, you may suffer in terms of what happens to you in your job, in one specific company. In his case, because he is a professional athlete, who yes, does get paid wonderfully....but has to face the humiliation, potential job loss, as well personal assaults (possibly of the worst kind) in the world at large.

He should consider himself lucky because Jack Woltz did far less.

It does not matter how much money someone makes. People are human and humans make mistakes.

Thinking just because he makes 3 mil or whatever that all the sudden makes him above other humans is bad logic

He makes 3 mil because his chosen profession and his talent to beat out other people trying to win the job not because he is above making mistakes all humans do.

Exactly.....if you are easily in the top 1,000 people in the entire world in this specific business, you deserve to get paid better. And just because you do, does not make you perfect.
