I'm more in the court of those who think McDaniels will be at least fairly successful this time. Lets be honest, his time here was not good.....other than that amazing 6 and 0 start! But for me, he has the following positives this time:
1) Potentially coming off back to back SB championships, and 3 in the last 4.....as OC. Not bad.
2) Definitely has chemistry with Brady, and definitely calls a high level game plan, including intelligent adjustments as required. Sure it's Brady, but it's not all Brady. And they do it sometimes without Gronk, without Edelman, and without highly known backs.
3) In Denver he was a bit overwhelmed, with high hopes and a bit of a macho attitude. Plus he did not have proper guidance from above. He needed a sounding board with some bite, and instead he was given too much freedom to fail.
4) Being a HC is not an easy adjustment....the second time around with many lessons learned, and with confidence given his resume since leaving here, should help him improve to a reasonable degree.
Of course much of this has to do with having a healthy Andrew Luck.
