Julian Edelman facing four-game suspension for PEDs
Tom Brady might not have his favorite receiver back to begin the season.
Julian Edelman is facing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing substances policy, NFL Network's Kimberly Jones reported, per a source informed of the situation. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport adds Edelman is appealing the suspension.
ESPN first reported the news.
"I've known Julian since his rookie year and he is a phenomenal athlete who takes his training seriously-it's disappointing to hear today's news," trainer Alex Guerrero said in a statement. "Elite athletes sometimes work with multiple coaches and health professionals as part of their training. Here at our facility, we take a natural, holistic, appropriate and, above all, legal approach to training and recovery for all of our clients. And anyone who would suggest otherwise is irresponsible, and just plain wrong."

And the chaos continues in Foxboro. The off season drama in Foxboro has been unbelievable. Everyday it's been something else.
I do find it fascinating how quickly Alex Guerrero distanced himself from this. I'm not suggesting he had anything to do with the PED's but why the need to put this statement out?
Yes, there was talk yesterday in the Boston sports media that Brady, Gronk and Edelman worked with him, and that they were surprised that a Gurerrero client got popped because there is such a strict regimen these guys are supposed to follow when using the TB12 Method, but I didn't hear anyone suggest the trainer was responsible for giving a client PEDs.
What this does do however is give BB more leverage to continue to ban Guerrero from being on the sidelines and flying with the team for away games. This has become a HUGE issue between Brady and BB throughout the year and it has been speculated that it was one of the major reasons, (among other issues) that Brady did not come to OTA's and still has not committed to attend the next 4 OTA's coming up. (per his presser yesterday). Although he did not come out and say that was the reason he might not come.
It's been fascinating to watch the chaos unfold inside the Patriots organization this off season. I don't think it will impact what happens on the field, but man, there is a lot of bad blood and tension between Brady, Kraft, BB and some players who are still pissed about the Malcolm Butler issue in the Super Bowl. Some ex players talking smack, current players voicing their dissatisfaction, etc.
