  • Week 4 Power Rankings: Roughing The Passer Is Rough

You know, I had half of this written and my computer crashed and did not auto recover anything. Whatever. After years of posting in the main sub forum, I have been banished to whatever wasteland this is. I shall press on though. Writing these during a week when we lose is always a little hard, but I didn’t think we would win so that helps. I couldn’t bake in my basement surrounded by 5 screens of football goodness on Sunday as I was preparing a big dinner for my family, but I’ll give it a go. Let’s do this:

    1-5

    1- LAR
    2- KC
    3- PHI
    4- JAX
    5- CAR

Who is going to stop this team? Legit question and I want you to answer it. This team just effortlessly wins, but Talib is injured and is out at least 4-6 weeks. The best part about the Ram being good is now LA has a football team they can be proud of. I mean the team that won Sunday, not the team who lost. You know who you are team who lost.

Listen we get it. You are good NOW Chiefs, but we know how this story ends. When Mahomes falls back to Earth, it is not like they have a defense they can rely on to save them later in the season. They will be the AFC West champs, but I don’t see them sustaining this dominance into the playoffs.

Wentz is back and looked… mediocre. Squeaking out a victory against a Colts team that doesn’t look as inept as they have the last 2 years. This isn’t the same team as last year and I feel they are ranked a little too high, this isn’t a top 5 team, more like a top 10.

Glad I missed this stinker. The Jags fell to the Titans which is fine, but the injuries to their offense is showing now. Their promising season is in crisis unless they can make some moves or some players can step up and become key playmakers.

I have been saying since week 1 that the Panthers are strong. McCaffrey went to town on the Bengals. 184 yards on the ground is the reason these kitties beat those other orange kitties. This team will not be slowing down anytime soon.

    6-10

    6- NO
    7- PIT (^9)
    8- TB
    9- MIN
    10- MIA

Another team I feel is too high. Yes they score a million points but as usual they let up a million points and BARELY win games. This team could have easily been 0-3 and I don’t like them. I am just not sold on this team being reliable enough to make any kind of dent in the playoffs.

What a game! The Steeler turned off the offense after the 2nd quarter but they didn’t need it. Big Ben did his thing and the defense forced a lot of takeaways ( I lost count). Oh and this happened.

The Magic ended, but then it kind of came back. Fitzy made some great throws and some not so great throws and they nearly came back from 20 points down. The last TB possession though was a horrendous 3 and out where Fitzy nearly threw a pic every down. Winston returns this week but I don’t think you play him. For many reasons, but mainly I think the dude is scummy and shouldn’t even be in the league anymore. Fitzy came into the game all high on swag and probably dumb luck, I doubt he left a little humbled.

This my friends is the definition of a trap game. A powerful team comes across a weak and feeble team. The powerful team comes in with their chest puffed out and the wise and powerful Cuz thinks he can bulldoze the weak team. But then the powerful team fumble a dozen times and the score gets out of hand. Shake it off. In the post season no one will remember this loss… unless you miss a first round bye by one game. Then everyone will remember.

These Dolphins are chewing through all those tuna nets they used to be so fond of. William Hayes however ended his season trying to avoid a roughing penalty with a torn ACL. That is beyond upsetting that these new protection rules are causing defenders to injure themselves. This crap needs to stop. Oh and this team is decent. They are fast and lead the AFC East right now, but that might not last.

    11-15

    11- LAC
    12- GB
    13- NE (v7)
    14- ATL
    15- CIN

Another week, another Bolts loss. Keep at it boys, but remember, there can be only one true LA team, and you just won’t be it.

I don’t know. I mean yea GB got robbed last week on a bogus roughing penalty and it cost them the game, and it happened again this week but it didn’t lose them the game, they did that one on their own. I mean the Redskins aren’t bad but this was a game GB should have won. This is a suspect team this year and I have no idea why. It baffles me. I don’t like to be baffled!

Well here is a team that looks mortal. When you double team Gronk, Brady is like a lost puppy. NE* fans think Gordon is the answer. LOL. Julian returns in a week so that will help but man this offense and defense is pretty pathetic. When the Pats* lose, it makes dealing with our loss a little easier. You know it is true.

I am sick of saying the same thing about the dirty birds every week, taking this week off.

See comment above about the Falcons, apply to the Bengals.

    16-20

    16- BAL
    17- CHI
    18- WAS
    19- TEN
    20- CLE

Just like Atlanta and the Bengals, I am not buying into this team. They should have crushed us even more than they did considering how many points and yards we left on the board. The better team won, but they won’t keep winning.

Da Bears won but they dropped 3 spots, that’s because they won by 2 points against the Cards. Not going to argue this one. The Bears have one of the nastiest defenses in the league, but the offense struggles big time, and if they want to see the post season they need to produce points.

When you beat Aaron Rodgers, you wake up on Monday morning with a little swag in your step. A pretty convincing win as well. This is still a weird team that is hard to gauge, and this division is really up for grabs (Not Dallas). Seriously, anyone could win this division (Not Dallas). Literally anyone (Not Dallas).

Mariota threw the ball 18 times for 100 yards. How do win games like that? Yet they won. This game is too depressing to talk about.

Cleveland… in the top 20. We are living in the future folks, and its name is Mayfield. He looked pretty solid against the Jets on Thursday, and I picked them to win because they were due for this win. Could the Browns have finally grabbed a worthy QB for the future?

    SPEED ROUND

    21-30

    21- DET (^9)
    22- DEN
    23- SEA
    24- DAL
    25- NYG
    26- IND
    27- BUF
    28- HOU
    29- NYJ
    30- OAK

Staffy doing his thing and bouncing back to knock off the chowda heads for win #1. I enjoyed watching this game very much.

Penalties, dumb coaches, punches, bad QB play. Wait, we didn’t overcome all that crap and squeak out a win this week? Looks like our luck finally ran out.

Seattle beat the Cowboys. I really don’t think anyone cares. Earl Thomas had 2 pics though so that’s something.

The Giants won because Eli didn’t live in the dirt this game. See, he can be good when you let him be good.

Tough loss, but when you lose to the reigning champs by only 4 points, don’t be too hard on yourself.

Buffalo goes to the Corner of Shame this week because they are going to make people think they are good when they aren’t. Giving fans false hope and being big fat fibbers to everyone else is wrong.

Houston is in a bad place, and they looked bad. Bad things are happening all around. Not the good kind of bad either, the bad kind of bad. Don’t be the bad kind of bad Houston.

Well someone had to be the sacrificial lamb and the J-E-T-S are IT IT IT!

Houston and the Raiders need to host the Bad Bowl. Man, this team has a lot of talent but like when Boston traded away Babe Ruth and were cursed, so now are the Raiders after letting Mack go. And the mascot for the Bad Bowl can be Gritty, the new Flyers mascot. Your soul. He wants it.

31- The 49ers fell 11 spots because their season might be over already. Jimmy G is done for the season. The defense is a mess. They have the Bolts next week, and that game might make the Chargers look real dangerous. Baph should enjoy that one.

32- Rosen gets the start next week and most of you know I am interested in this guy. He looked like a rookie being fed to the wolves..err…umm… bears on Sunday so we can’t judge him on that. He might be the spark this team needs. They are home against the Seahawks which is a winnable game, and a must win if they want to recover any dignity this season.

    Sad Times at mile high........

And who beats the rams? I say it’ll be a huge let down game when they feel like they are cruising...

this should have been put in smack......we shall see who is proud of what team in a month or two. funny thing is, LA fans still wont support what seems to be the best team in the NFL any more than they will the chargers. both teams in LA are superior to what you have in Denver currently, remember that boy.

A Smack version of the Power Rankings is actually a good idea, Baph.

Cheer up, EM, the mighty Football Outsiders has us ranked at #15 (with O=15, D=16, ST=14) while Cleveland is well below us at #26.

I would say 15 is a pretty accurate ranking. The hope is when the O has more games together we can creep up into the top 10
