I wondered at the time looking at the car if there was more to the story than just losing control. The news clip leaves a lot of basic questions unanswered, mostly why.

70 mph in a 30 mph zone with a crash that involved serious bodily harm does not bode well for Thomas, sorry to say. Hard to argue against putting a person in the hospital for speeding and losing control.

Can he plea down to a lesser charge? It might be his only best option right now.

Hope this is nothing more than a one time, fairly serious error in judgement. Life is long, and when one's career is in decline, it's time to assess that next chapter with enthusiasm and wisdom. Yes, there may be another year or two left in the ole football cleats, but those fly by quickly.

Wasn’t there a witness behind him that saw the whole crash? Why didn’t he mention how fast he was going? Or am I confusing this with the Karl Anthony-Towns crash?

Vehicular assault seems ridiculous. Assault seems to imply intent.

Reckless endangerment seems to make more sense.

Either way, I hope things work out for the best.
