  • Opposite of Breakout, Breakup teams

What teams do you guys think will be absolutely horrible this season, like the 49ers, Dolphins, or Titans of last season. Let's try to keep away from predictions on the AFC West, because then this will just become a trash talk.

For one, I seriously doubt the Titans will be good enough to make the playoffs. They have done such a massive roster change and lost so many players (Derrick Mason, Samari Rolle, Carlos Hall, Darrel Hill, Andre Dyson) that it will be hard for new rookies to step it up and play to a championship level. Not saying they can't be good in a year or two, but not this season.

It's a good thing Jay Cutler was a proven winner in college. Oh wait, nevermind.

The Titans are definitely a few years away from coming together....
Green Bay will collapse this year... at this point Favre is no more than an average quarterback, they've lost some good offensive linemen, and the defense is a joke.... meanwhile the Lions, Bears, and Vikings are all up-and-coming teams; the NFC North will be very competitive next year.
Philadelphia will collapse... Washington will finish last in the NFC East though and will provide the Broncos with a top 5 pick.
I think Seattle's goose is cooked and they will take Arizona's last-place spot as the Cards improve (Have you seen the drafts they've had in the past two years?).
The Bills might pass the Jets... Gang Green's secondary will be torched again and again this year, and losing Jason Ferguson will hurt their run defense more than people realize. Also, playing the Dolphins won't be so easy anymore.
The NFC North is intriguing... The Browns will finish last, obviously, but what after that? Baltimore is loading up, but Pittsburgh is still the team to beat, and Cincinatti is the wild card.

The worst 4 teams will be Washington, Green Bay, Tennesee, and Cleveland... in no particular order....

Wow, how nice to see that biased opinions still thrive. The entire NFC North has improved. Including the Browns. If any team will finish last in the division it will be the Bengals. With the Browns and Steelers pushing for the title. The Rats are on a downward spiral. Their offense is among the worst in the league. The only thing the Rats are good at is crime. If you want to find a criminal look at the Rats roster.

The real Browns are in Baltimore, see?

My opinions on the NFL teams that will decline this season:

        Titans
        Baltimore Rats
        St. Louis Rams
        Minnesota Vikings
The Browns are gone; I'm not a fan of the Impostors

Ya know, I cant blame you for being so angry, I'd be pretty pissed if I was a Cleveland fan too, but lets be realistic here. You and I both know damn well the Brows will finish pretty much the same place they did this year. They dont have a quarterback, and Romeo Crennel can only do so much with that crappy defense. So yea, Cleveland wont be competing for **** come december, except maybe the frist overall pick.

As for my picks of teams who will suck next year? Lets start with Cleveland. They're not getting any better, it'll take 2 or 3 years for Crennel to get things rolling there.

I cant say Green Bay will be one of the worst teams in the league simply because Favre is there.

I think the Dolphins, Niners, and Browns will be the top 3, followed closely by Ca$hville, and the Bucs. None of these teams have really shown me anything for me to think otherwise.

            Dude..what are you talking about?

The Ravens signed Samari Rolle which only makes their D better.
They finally have a legitimate WR in Derrick Mason.
In addition, they drafted WR Clayton who could have an impact.
Also drafted Cody, another rookie who could have an impact.
Jamal Lewis will play the whole year.
Last year, the ravens didn't have a WR, didn't have Heap for most of the year, and didn't have Jamal Lewis for a bit either...they should be much better on offense this year.

I agree, the Ravens will be improved.

Yes, the entire NFC North has improved, except the Browns. Sorry man, I like what Crennel is doing, and you've made all the right offseason moves, but you have to throw away the junk before you can build a good team, and so far all the Browns have done is throw away their junk. Say what you want, but who is going to start on your defensive line? Who will play cornerback? You lost a lot of players this offseason, and they will be good in 2006, but you are definitely behind the other three teams in your division.
...and you're accusing me of bias?

PS You have plenty of reason to hate the Ravens, but they loaded up for this year and had one of the best offseasons anywhere. They are definitely a playoff team. Be realistic.

                    DL:

                    Roye, Fisk, Lang

                    DB:

                    McCutcheon and Baxter

                    OL:

                    Verba, Andruzzi, Faine/Fowler, Coleman, Tucker

The Browns are switching to a 3-4 D and the DL is set and has appropriate depth.

Lang is an OK player but a poor fit for the 3-4 scheme... he gives good effort and should make it work though. Roye and Fisk are nothing special, would be good as backups but not starters. You're hoping that holdovers will work in the new scheme... good luck with that.
And your linebacker situation is ugly. Andra Davis is an above-average player, but Chaun Thompson, Matt Stewart, and Ben Taylor haven't done much.

McCutcheon and Baxter are both hit-or-miss, and you have no corner depth. The future is bright with Brodney Pool and Sean Jones at safety, but you shouldn't expect them to do much next season, especially without a pass rush.

Your offensive line will be better but you need a left tackle pretty bad... Verba isn't nearly the player he used to be and is injury prone. Again though, the future is bright on offense, just not this year.

I'm not rooting against the Browns at all, honestly, I like them more than a lot of teams, but this isn't their year. Watch out in 2006 and '07 though... Charlie Frye will be a star in this league, and after he has two or three years to bring in his players Crennel will put a great defense on the field.

It is worth noting that you didn't cut Couch until after June 1 last year and his contract is still on the books as is the final year of Garcia's deal; you will be paying $5.2 million against the cap next year for two quarterbacks who aren't even on the team. Don't worry though, you are doing it the right way. You will peak in about three years... and in three years Baltimore and Pittsburgh will be rebuilding.. Cleveland Browns as AFC North champions in 2008 is very realistic.

Here's a question for you: Who is going to start at QB? Did you bring in Dilfer to be the starter? Frye is a real talent, but should you wait to start him?
I do like Frye a lot... he is exactly what Tim Couch wasn't; a tough, gritty, mobile QB who will inspire his team by getting back up after hits that would have sent Couch limping to the locker room.

Dilfer is going to start this season for sure.

Frye is going to sit back and learn the system this year and possibly next year.

For old times sake though I would like to see Testaverde brought back to push Dilfer for the starting job and have one of the two be backups so that in case of injury Frye isn't forced to play.

Titans and Green Bay for sure. I am sure 49ers will still be in the dumps and i have a feeling the Giants wont be all that great. .500 or lower im guessing.

I heard the Giants were talking with Teste too....

Hey what's the deal with your running back situation? Did you cut Green? Regardless of who starts, your running game should be adequate with improved o-line play and that bulldozer fullback you guys have.

Not getting into an argument here, but the Brown's LB core is sad, really sad.
