  • Westbrook holding out?

I heard that Brian Westbrook (RB for the Eagles) is holding out. This brought a question to my mind. How does a running back with 812 rushing yards and 3 rushing TDs decide hes worth more money? I know he was a good receiver out of the backfield but come on!

The agent who represents Eagles' running back Brian Westbrook said Wednesday that his client will not miss training camp. Agent Anthony Agnone added that while Westbrook will not take part in this weekend's minicamp, he will sign his one-year, $1.43 million contract tender before camp opens if he is unable to negotiate a long-term contract with the team. "Brian Westbrook will be in an Eagles uniform this year," Agnone told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "Brian feels very strongly that he's part of the Eagles organization, and he hopes that he will get a long-term deal."

Westbrook is a breath of fresh air for Eagles fans who are tired of listening to wide receiver Terrell Owens and other starters complain about their contract situations. Given the flexibility that Westbrook is showing, we wouldn't be surprised if the team rewards him with the long-term deal he is seeking.

As far as your statement that Westbrook only had 812 rushing yards...he is more than just a 'good receiver out of the backfield...he's one of the top 5 in the league...only one I can think of that's hands down better is Tomlinson...Westbrook had 700-plus yards receiving this year, the team's second highest amount!!!..If T.O. doesn't come back, he'll be back as the #1 receiving threat on the team!!! He added another 6 td receptions....the guy is definitely under-rated.
